Lexie's question lingered in the air, hanging between them like a heavy fog. Eijar's expression softened as she considered the depth of Lexie's inquiry.
"I believe it's more than just empathy," Eijar replied, her voice gentle yet firm. "What Isiah did... it goes beyond mere sympathy for your suffering. The man has no empathy for any human except for Ciel …he killed all of those people mercilessly …even when he thought you were there with them …so …I guess it is not empathy Lexie ….but I do think …There's a connection between you two that transcends understanding."
Lexie furrowed her brow, her thoughts swirling with uncertainty. "A connection?" she echoed, her voice tinged with curiosity.
Eijar nodded, her gaze steady as she met Lexie's eyes. "Yes," she affirmed, her tone confident. "He keeps hearing your voice …even when you are away from him ."
"But why?" Lexie wondered aloud.
