Without the limit of lifespan, they could pick up new paths whenever they reach an unbreakable bottleneck in their main path, exploring more possibilities to find one that could upgrade their level of existence further.
However, in reality, few actually chose to do so, stubbornly persisting in their original path without any hope of progress, yet desperately clinging to it.
Why was that the case?
