Chapter 35 - Chapter 35: Your Tastes Are So Extreme

It's him!

"Tom!"

Elara Don's legs felt a bit weak as she looked at the man descending like a god, her tightly wound heart suddenly loosening!

In a moment of danger, it was this thug who saved her!

Damon Hawke strode over to Elara Don, wrapping an arm around the woman who was about to stumble, and looked at her pale little face, his stern expression softening slightly.

"Don't be afraid, it's over."

The man's voice was deep, with a hint of comfort.

The familiar masculine aura brought a full sense of security.

Elara Don clutched his coat and barely managed to stand straight, looking at Elara Avery, who was curled up on the ground, still frightened.

At this moment, Elara Avery's face and hands were oozing with blood, hit by the splashback of acid.

The sight was grotesque!

Elara Don swallowed hard, forcing a smile towards Damon Hawke, her voice still trembling, "Thank you, Tom."

If this man hadn't appeared suddenly, she would have been the one disfigured now!

The woman, pale-faced like a startled kitten, retracted her usual claws.

This look made her much more endearing.

Damon Hawke raised an eyebrow but said nothing.

He merely held her slender waist with his large hand, feeling its softness.

"It hurts so much, am I going to be disfigured? Save me, please save me!"

Elara Avery trembled in pain all over, reaching out towards Elara Don.

Elara Don instinctively shrank back into Damon Hawke's embrace, her hand clenching his clothes.

This dependent look pleased Damon Hawke greatly.

He tightened his hold on Elara Don's waist, forcefully leading her away.

"Let's go, I'll have someone come deal with this."

Leave just like that?

Elara Don looked back at Elara Avery, her lips tightly pressed together.

She brought this upon herself.

Can't blame others.

Finally, out of the alley, Elara Don took a deep breath and realized she was still being held by Damon Hawke.

She quickly pushed him away, tidied up her messy clothes, and asked, "Why are you here?"

The softness in his hand gone, Damon Hawke lowered his eyes slightly, withdrawing his gaze from her waist, his Adam's apple moving slightly.

"I happened to be handling some things around here."

Coincidentally, Riveras Hayes' Peak Architecture was acquired by the Netherworld Organization.

A construction site nearby just started, and Riveras Hayes was upset, so he incited the workers to strike and cause trouble.

He came to check the situation and unexpectedly saw Elara Don being chased.

And the woman chasing Elara Don was none other than the dismissed Elara Avery.

"What are you handling? Are you getting into fights again?"

Elara Don finished tidying her clothes and, hearing Damon Hawke's words, looked him up and down with a frown.

Damon Hawke raised an eyebrow slightly, leaning closer to her, "What, concerned about me?"

"Speak properly!"

Elara Don took a step back, "Look at you, strong and healthy, why can't you find a proper job? Aren't you afraid of something unexpected happening one day if you stay a thug forever?"

If he weren't the child's biological father, she wouldn't bother with this chatter!

"Woman, if I found a proper job, would you be with me?"

Damon Hawke didn't mind Elara Don's disdain, looking at her pretty face, and asked casually.

Be with him?

This man, is he really interested in her?

Elara Don glared at him, "I never thought you had such a heavy taste. Knowing I'm a married woman and still hitting on me? I advise you to quickly find a proper job, stay away from fights. You're decent looking, if you get a stable job, you'll definitely find a good girl."

This woman, why did she say she's married?

Is she afraid he'll pester her, or is she still hung up on Evan Miles?

Damon Hawke squinted his eyes, watching her walk toward the bus stop, hands in his pockets, following leisurely.

"Where are the good girls nowadays? They're all vain women. If I were richer or more powerful than your husband, would you be with me?"

What a question.

Elara Don looked back at him, inquisitive, "Tom, with such acidic words, have you been heartbroken?"

Damon Hawke: "..."

He was just testing her, and she really thought that.

"Yes. I had a girlfriend before, and she left me for her boss because I didn't have money. That's why I'm a thug, wanting to make something of myself."

Damon Hawke spun a tale, watching Elara Don look at him with sympathetic eyes, feeling inexplicably pleased.

"Tom, there are plenty of good girls in the world, not everyone is as snobbish as your girlfriend. Buck up, get a proper job, I believe you can find a good girl to spend your life with."

Elara Don patted his shoulder, sincerely encouraging him.

The woman had a beautiful face and a soft voice.

Under the warm yellow streetlight, there was a slight warmth, making people want to get closer.

A place deep inside Damon Hawke's heart seemed inexplicably to collapse.

At this moment, the bus slowly approached, and Elara Don quickly said, "Tom, the bus is here, I need to go back, thank you again! Goodbye."

After speaking, Elara Don got on the bus.

Damon Hawke's pupils moved slightly, his long legs stepping forward, following her.

"Sir, you haven't paid the fare yet."

The driver quickly reminded Damon Hawke as he walked without paying.

Pay the fare?

In all his life, he's never taken this kind of transport!

Damon Hawke's eyebrows furrowed almost imperceptibly.

His gaze landed on the surprised woman who turned back, and he gestured toward the fare box.

"Pay for me."

Elara Don blinked her beautiful eyes, slowly moving over to help him scan the code.

"Why did you follow me?"

"A good deed done completely, to ensure you get home safely."

Damon Hawke stood next to Elara Don, holding onto the overhead strap.

Elara Don glanced at him, rolled her eyes, but the corners of her mouth slightly curled up.

This man doesn't seem to have a bad heart.

Damon Hawke, having been given a good person card, wrinkled his nose slightly at the unpleasant air around him.

In a moment of impulse, how did he end up on a bus with this woman?

The bus swayed, and more people gradually crowded in.

Seeing the woman beside him being pushed back again and again by a man, Damon Hawke's aura turned cold, and he reached out to pull her into his embrace, shielding her to the inside.

The familiar male scent lingered at her nose, and his body wrapped her in warmth.

Thump, thump, she didn't know whose heart was beating so fast.

Elara Don pressed her lips, her gaze landing on the buttons on the man's chest, and the corners of her mouth curled slightly.

She wasn't familiar with him, yet she didn't reject his closeness!

Because he didn't seem like a bad person.

With her soft body in his arms, Damon Hawke felt a warmth inside him.

He lowered his eyes, looking at the woman's fair skin and curled lashes, cursing in his heart.

Is he asking for trouble?

"Why did you come to the flower base?"

To distract himself, Damon Hawke casually started a topic.

"How do you know I went to the flower base?" Elara Don looked at him suspiciously.

"Of course I saw, silly." Damon Hawke looked at her with disdain.
