I don't know if it was the sound of the argument that agitated the green-eyed cat in the Queen's arms.
It twisted restlessly in the Queen's embrace, trying to struggle free.
The Queen, however, was thoroughly entertained by the lively scene. Seeing the cat misbehave, she gave its head a hard slap, attempting to calm it down.
This slap was no good; it immediately started hissing, baring its teeth at the Queen.
How could the Queen possibly draw attention to herself at such a moment?
She lifted the cat, gave its belly a hard squeeze, and then handed it to the Chief Palace Maid behind her.
No one expected why this normally obedient and gentle cat suddenly had such a change in temperament.
Maybe it was the pain from its belly being squeezed; it let out a 'meow—', swatting the Chief Palace Maid's hand with a paw.
It kicked its hind feet and struggled upward, and by coincidence, its sharp claws raked across the Queen's delicately made-up face...
