Many criticize the 'theory of evolution' in textbooks as being wrong, but what's taught now is the modern evolutionary synthesis, which is an optimization of Darwin's theory of evolution.
It actually fixes many of Darwin's loopholes—granted, even so, evolutionary theory still has some flaws and loopholes that remain unresolved to this day.
But at least in the knowledge accessible to ordinary people... within the scope of nine-year compulsory education, it holds its ground.
