"Phew!" Belen was first surprised, but then exhaled in relief and almost fell to her knees. It felt good to be alive.
She then looked at Leticia and saw her hovering four feet above ground, her eyes closed and breathing even as she rapidly absorbed the dark energy seeping out of the hut's walls, roof and the ground.
Gulp!
Belen gulped nervously and her heart almost stopped beating when she looked at her because she felt as if she wasn't looking at Leticia, her sister and best friend, but an entity so powerful, so supreme that merely looking at her was a sacrilege and she would be punished for it.
She wanted to move her gaze away but it was as if her eyes were glued to Leticia.
Slowly, her heart stopped beating, her face turned pale and the spark of life in her eyes began flickering, seemingly on the verge of dying out - once it did, Belen would die.
