"Why? Why aren't you going home with me?" Christopher asked, tearfully. He was disappointed that he would still be apart from his mother. He still couldn't understand what her main goal was.
Meanwhile, Mila's face could not be painted anymore because of how she folded her face in a grimace. She actually wanted to frankly respond to Christopher's inquiry with honesty, but tried to hold it in.
"You will most likely face dangerous situations. I don't plan to get involved. And you need to focus more on your goal of becoming the next king. Treating me like your mother again would raise more death flags for me. I need to find a way to survive, so you better go back to Esclamado alone."
Mila was not sure if she would still face death flags even if she was now Giro. She needs to know and make sure she's safe first before hanging around with Christopher. They are way far from the main start of the novel, and she still needs to experiment more in regard to the story development.
