Chapter 40 - JANITOR'S CLOSET

The gym was thick with the scent of floor wax, body heat, and the overwhelming noise of high-society fandom. It had been two grueling days since the chaotic overnight sleepover at the condo, and the student council had pushed the performers into a relentless, back-to-back schedule. Between the bands, the soloists, and the duos, the campus was vibrating with anticipation.

Yet, it wasn't the exhausting, long hours of supervising complex choreography that continuously cranked up Leansei's mood. It was the crowd. The fans of the Vcheroi brothers had swarmed the building, occupying almost half the wooden benches of the gymnasium. They were an unstoppable wave of giggling, whispering, and plotting, constantly shouting cheers, trading rumors, and handing out expensive imported drinks and custom catering boxes during every single break period.

Leansei stood near the scoring table, his gray eyes subtly glancing toward the cluster of girls cheering excitedly near the court.

"Xerchin looks so incredibly good today!" one sighed, fanning herself.

"I know! This is literally the first time any of us have ever been permitted to hear them both perform live."

"Beidhen is so uniquely attractive when he's playing the guitar. Did you see his posture?"

"I honestly can't wait for the acquaintance party next week!"

"I know, right?!"

Leansei let out a deep, heavy sigh, his chest tightening as his gaze drifted across the court. He tried to look away, but his eyes locked onto Xerchin before he could stop himself. The athlete was dripping with sweat—beads of moisture tracing down his forehead, running along the sharp line of his jaw, and dampening the collar of his shirt. Yet, even in this raw, unconditioned state under the harsh gym lights, he looked undeniably ravishing. It was a vision that made Leansei's pulse spike violently.

Panicking behind his teeth, Leansei immediately snapped his head away.

Leansei broke contact instantly, his gaze darting away as a burning flush crept up his neck. Desperate for any distraction to ground his racing heart, he lunged for his bottled water. A chorus of giggles erupted as a small crowd of girls swarmed his side, thrusting brightly colored sports drinks and cold bottles into his space, their extended hands practically begging for his attention.

He bit into his lips as he aggressively unscrewing the cap to take a thirsty gulp to ground his racing heart. But before he could lower the container, a shadow fell over him.

Swish.

Leansei flinched in pure, unadulterated shock as the cold plastic bottle was violently yanked clean out of his grip.

He whirled around, his eyes narrowing in rage as he prepared to bark at the snatcher—but the words died squarely in his throat. Xerchin was standing right flush beside him. Without a single word of explanation, the older boy raised Leansei's bottle to his own lips, drinking from the exact spot Leansei's mouth had just touched. Leansei stood completely paralyzed, his gray pupils tracking the rhythmic, devastatingly attractive movement of Xerchin's Adam's apple as it slid up and down, aggressively chugging the water.

' Why on earth does he have to do that?! ' Leansei's mind screamed in a defensive frenzy, a sudden heat rushing straight to his cheeks. ' He was literally just offered a mountain of premium drinks from his loyal fans—why the hell did he have to steal mine?! '

Xerchin finally lowered the container, using the pad of his thumb to slowly wipe a stray droplet of water from his reddish lips. He tilted his chin down, locking his light blue eyes directly onto Leansei's flustered face with a thoroughly mischievous, teasing smile.

Leansei's eyes darted past Xerchin's broad shoulder, and his stomach dropped. The dense crowd of female fans on the bleachers were staring straight at them, every single one of their faces frozen in a completely dumbfounded, shocked, and intensely irritated scowl directed right at Leansei.

"Why do you constantly have to—" Leansei started to hiss angrily under his breath. He was cut violently short. Xerchin deliberately bent his head down, leaning his torso closer until his minty breath brushed against Leansei's burning ear.

"It's not like we haven't done far more than that before, Mooncalf," Xerchin whispered, his low baritone voice smooth and anchoring.

Leansei's mouth opened and closed silently, his brain short-circuiting as he searched for a counter-argument. But before he could find his voice, Xerchin smoothly turned on his heel, tossing a final remark over his shoulder as he strode back toward the court. "That's a remarkably delicious bottle of water, by the way."

Leansei glared fiercely at his retreating back, his fists clenching inside his pockets. "It is literally just standard, normal convenience store water, you absolute bastard..." he muttered, his voice dropping into a low murmur that only he could hear. His ears were burning a bright, breathless shade of tomato red.

' What on earth did he even mean by 'more than that'?! ' Leansei wailed internally, vigorously shaking his head to clear the intrusive thoughts. He shot a final warning glare across the floor, only to find Beidhen standing near the net, slowly shaking his head with a highly playful, knowing smirk painted across his face.

.

The mandatory rehearsal blocks stretched through the entire afternoon, draining the remaining physical energy from the performers. By the time the final session wrapped up, Leansei stood by the exit doors, aggressively stretching his aching arms upward while holding the heavy leather strap of his carry bag over his shoulder.

He adjusted his glasses, preparing to commute back to his condo, but his movements froze. A few meters down the dim hallway corridor, Beidhen was standing rigid, his large hand firmly clamping down onto Revin's wrist to halt his retreat.

Leansei's survival instincts flared; he could physically feel that the tension vibrating between the two boys was profoundly tensed and strong. Revin's sharp features were tight, his eyes bright and nearly teary with an intense mix of hurt and frustration. Across from him, Beidhen's usual arrogant facade had disintegrated entirely, his face looking thoroughly stressed out, his eyes wide with a raw, desperate look of pure yearning.

Before Leansei could execute a quiet backward step to slide out of the hallway unnoticed, their heads snapped around. Both boys darted their attention straight toward his position. Leansei closed his eyes tightly for a fraction of a second, cursing his luck. He forced an unexplainable, neutral mask onto his face, attempting to walk away smoothly as if he hadn't just witnessed a heavy private crisis.

"Kean?" Revin's cracked, desperate call made Leansei halt his feet dead in their tracks. He slowly turned his head around. Revin didn't wait for an invitation, aggressively breaking away from Beidhen's grip and marching straight over to grab Leansei's arm, forcefully pulling him away from the gym wing. Leansei risked a final glance over his shoulder, his chest tightening as his eyes locked onto Beidhen. The delinquent remained standing solitary in the middle of the hallway, his head dropped completely against his chest, his broad shoulders slouching in defeat.

As Revin dragged him down the sidewalk toward the main exit gates, a profound wave of guilt and pity toward the Older Vcheroi brother settled over Leansei's ribs.

' Did something completely terrible actually happen between those two? ' Leansei questioned himself silently.

Throughout the entire walk down the bustling concrete sidewalk, Revin did not utter a single syllable of explanation. His hands were tucked deep inside his pockets, his eyes glued firmly to the pavement as his mind wandered somewhere else entirely.

Navigating the corner near the park, Leansei's eyes caught the bright decal of an ice cream freezer standing outside a local convenience shop. Acting on pure instinct to break his friend's silent suffering, Leansei reached out and firmly pulled Revin's arm, causing his companion to abruptly halt his feet.

Revin blinked through the shadows, turning a deeply confused, pale face toward him. His features perfectly mirrored a silent "Huh?"

Leansei didn't bother to drop a verbal explanation, using his strength to guide the reluctant boy straight through the shop doors regardless of how many times Revin softly declined the offer. Within a few minutes, they were sitting side by side on a quiet wooden bench at the edge of the near plaza, each holding a premium ice cream cone. The sprawling park grounds were completely empty, the daytime noise having faded away as the first brilliant stars began glazing beautifully across the dark night sky.

"Why exactly didn't you ask me what happened back there?" Revin asked suddenly, his voice fracturing the heavy silence between them.

Leansei took a slow bite of his ice cream, keeping his gaze detached as he stared out at the dark lawn. "I don't have a mandatory right to ask for an explanation for every single thing my eyes witness, Revin." He paused, turning his gray pupils to look directly into his friend's tired eyes. "You will tell me exactly what's haunting you whenever you want to, and when you feel completely ready to do so."

Revin froze mid-movement, staring at Leansei with an unreadable, deeply touched expression. A soft, breathless smile finally broke across his lips, though it looked incredibly heavy.

"My father's name was officially included in a major financial investigation a few days ago," Revin confessed quietly, his voice dropping into a flat frequency as he looked away to stare at the green ground. Leansei remained perfectly still, keeping his mouth sealed to let him vent his rants without interruption. "His corporate greed completely led to his own downfall... but the fallout left our entire company on the dangerous verge of absolute bankruptcy. And the worst part is... me and my mother are the ones who are forced to suffer the raw consequences of his actions every single day now. In fact... there is a massive probability that I won't even be permitted to attend classes after the acquaintance party wraps up next week."

Leansei's eyes widened, a sudden wave of pure, deep-seated concern and intense worry darkling his gray pupils.

"The entire issue became such a massive public controversy that the students on campus are pointing fingers, throwing the blame straight onto my shoulders simply because I am his biological son," Revin hissed out, his fingers tightening aggressively until his hand clenched into a tight fist. "I am so incredibly mad at my dad for his blind greed and for trusting those corporate sharks so easily. But... I am infinitely more angry at myself because I am standing here completely paralyzed, unable to do a single thing to help him—to help them. I feel so completely, utterly powerless."

' Is that why Revin is being distant and most of the time preoccupied? '

"Revin," Leansei said softly, his voice cutting through the dark. He shifted his weight, moving his body closer on the wooden bench so his friend wouldn't feel so isolated and abandoned in his raw anger. "Look directly at me."

Revin didn't move at first, his knuckles remaining stark white as his gaze locked intensely onto the ground panels. But under the steady weight of Leansei's presence, he slowly lifted his head, his eyes bright and glistening with a volatile mixture of explosive rage and absolute physical exhaustion.

"You are currently forcing yourself to carry a burning house on your own shoulders, Revin... and yet you are furiously mad at yourself simply because you are getting burned by the flames," Leansei said, his baritone voice perfectly steady, grounded, and deeply gentle. "The corporate greed belonged explicitly to your father. The terrible judgment belonged entirely to your father. You did not sign a single one of those financial contracts. You did not make a single one of those choices. It is fundamentally, structurally unfair that you and your mother are breathing in the toxic smoke of his ruin... but you absolutely cannot blame your own soul for not being able to put out a fire that you didn't start."

Revin's chest heaved violently, a sharp, bitter breath escaping his lips as he struggled to process the logic. "But I am his biological son, Kean! The moment people look at my face, they don't see me—they see him. And I am just sitting around like a total coward, waiting for the administration to officially kick me out of school because our bank accounts are frozen and we can't pay for the tuition metrics anymore. I am doing absolutely nothing to change our destiny."

"You are not doing nothing. You are actively surviving a massive life crisis," Leansei countered firmly, his hand snapping out to place a warm, reassuring weight securely over Revin's tense shoulder. "And feeling completely powerless does not mean you actually are powerless, Revin. It simply means you are burning your energy trying to fight the wrong battle. You do not possess the corporate authority to fix a bankrupt company. But you do possess the absolute power to control exactly what happens to your own future next."

Leansei slowly released his grip on the shoulder, leaning back to grant the boy full room to breathe as he laid out the structural paths. "First, let's address the university," Leansei stated, counting the parameters clearly on his fingers. "Tomorrow morning, the exact second our lectures conclude, we are going to walk together straight into the Student Affairs Office. We will file an immediate application for an emergency working student grant or an executive academic scholarship. The campus administration cares explicitly about your grades and your behavioral conduct, not about a sequence of corporate rumors on the news. If the processing paperwork takes too long to clear, we file a formal leave of absence. You do not drop out of school, Revin. You pause. There is absolutely zero shame in executing a necessary intermission. It keeps your student slot perfectly safe and secured until the corporate dust finally settles."

Leansei paused for a beat, letting the words sink in before offering the second parameter. "Second, if staying inside this campus circle right now feels entirely too toxic because of the whispers... we look into transferring your registry to a state university next semester. Or, you secure a temporary job for a few months—trust me, I know a massive directory of various works in the city. You don't do it to save your father's legacy; you do it to buy your own absolute independence. You help your mother cover the basic groceries and utility bills. You build an unyielding wall between your own future and your father's past errors."

Revin stared at him in absolute silence, the wild, chaotic panic darkling his eyes beginning to recede, replaced slowly by the sober, grounding weight of actual, real choices. "It... it sounds so incredibly complicated. And no matter what we do... people are still going to talk."

"Then let every single one of them talk," Leansei stated, a fierce, protective edge darkling his tone as his gray pupils narrowed. "People possess remarkably short memories, Revin. They will whisper behind your back at the acquaintance party next week, yes. But if you walk straight into that grand hall with your chin lifted high, refusing to apologize to a single soul for sins that aren't yours to bear... you take away every ounce of their ammunition. You are Revin. You are a dedicated student, a fiercely loyal friend, and a son who cares deeply for his mother's well-being. That is your absolute truth. The rest of their gossip is just worthless noise."

A long, peaceful silence fell over the dark plaza lawn. The cool evening breeze caught Revin's dark hair, and for the very first time all day, his white-knuckled fists slowly uncurled, his fingers relaxing. He looked down at his open palms, the skin red and burning from the intense pressure of his own grip, and let out a long, shaky sigh into the night.

"An intermission," he muttered softly to the empty park, testing the syllables against his lips. "A temporary pause. Not a dead end."

"Exactly," Leansei smiled softly, his expression warm with unwavering support. "Not an end. Just the next chapter. And you don't have to write it alone. You have us... just like you told me, you have friends." Revin slowly smiled and nodded his head in agreement and relief.

"Sorry for bothering you at this time. Thank you for helping and hearing me out." Leansei smacked his shoulder playfully.

"That's what friends do. Come on, it's getting late. Let's head home." Leansei stood up and walked first, the cool night breeze lifting the heavy weight that had anchored them to the park bench. Revin smiled, the tight grip on his own constraints finally loosening, and followed closely behind him.

.

Another day passed, and yet another mandatory rehearsal block commenced—but the atmosphere inside the campus hub was quite different today. Del and Vio were resting near the baseline, taking a quiet break from their fluid choreography. Leansei glanced around the expansive room, noting with a sudden sense of relief that the Vcheroi brothers' massive wall of fans were nowhere to be found.

Leansei was actually quite late for his official supervising duties this afternoon. He had spent the previous hours guiding Revin through the complex administrative paperwork required for the emergency working student grant at the Student Affairs Office. But since he had arrived on the court, he hadn't seen a single figure of the two siblings.

' Were they running late or something? And come to think of it, Xeilin isn't in his usual station either—'

"Kean!" His attention was sharply divided when Felina called out his name from the scoring table. He glanced over at her. "You were requested down at the Tech Office immediately," she explained, organizing her binders. "Don't worry, I'll stay here and monitor the court for a while while you're gone." Leansei offered a polite nod, thanking her before turning on his heel to make his way toward the long department hallways.

' The entire wing has been weirdly quiet today...'

He flinched slightly when he spotted Beidhen walking down the corridor from the opposite direction. Leansei stopped his pace, analyzing the delinquent's profile. Beidhen looked visibly stressed, his features tight, carrying heavy shadows under his eyes as if he hadn't secured a single hour of sleep all last night. But the exact microsecond Beidhen caught sight of him, his face instantly altered, snapping right back into his usual, unbothered way.

"Are you looking for someone, I see?" Beidhen asked playfully, stepping into his path.

Leansei rolled his eyes aggressively at him. "Who exactly says I do?"

' Well, at least he is back to his old, annoying self, ' Leansei reasoned silently, his worry easing.

Beidhen let out a sharp smirk. Frustrated by the smug expression, Leansei tried to walk past his broad shoulder to resume his route, but his steps halted the exact second Beidhen spoke again.

"He doesn't like massive crowds that much, or wide open space areas. It aggressively annoys him—so he explicitly requested the administration grant him access to room A-22 to utilize as a closed practice room," Beidhen noted, his light brown eyes locking onto Leansei's face. "He wanted to get far away from his dedicated 'devotees' because he can't concentrate on his sets due to an annoying... person."

Leansei immediately looked away toward the brick wall, his chest tightening. "I'm not asking!" he snapped, before aggressively walking away down the hall.

His mind was entirely preoccupied, his thoughts spinning into a defensive frenzy as he continuously murmured to himself that he didn't care, he wasn't actively looking for the athlete, and he had zero desire to know his location. But despite the loud denials screaming in his head, his feet dragged him straight toward the pit.

Leansei came to a sudden halt, his breath catching in his throat. ' What... what on earth am I actually doing here?— '

He looked up at the heavy wooden door of room A-22. It was securely closed. On a long table stationed right outside the threshold sat an absolute mountain of catering boxes, custom gifts, and premium drinks left behind by various people. Leansei let out a quiet sigh, turning on his heel to walk away toward the external courtyard exit.

But his feet frozen yet again as he navigated the outside hallway. A large bunch of girls were crowding aggressively outside the closed glass windows of room A-22, their bodies pressed against the frame. Leansei found his steps moving toward the perimeter. The female students didn't pay a single shred of attention to his presence, nor did they even register him standing near their circle; they were entirely too busy admiring, gossiping, and idolizing the person residing inside the closed studio.

Leansei tiptoed, catching a clear glimpse through the glass—and the vision made his gray eyes freeze.

It was the exact figure that had been making his mind wander all day. Xerchin was sitting solitary on a high performance stool in the center of the room. His dark hair was perfectly messy, the top buttons of his crisp shirt left open, his long fingers methodically strumming a melody across the strings of his guitar while he carefully scribbled musical notation into his binder. He wore a dead-serious, intensely focused expression on his features. He was undebatably, attractively handsome and hot under the studio lights. Leansei couldn't bring himself to blame the girls for admiring him; he knew exactly how flawless those features were—he had gone up close... infinitely closer to that face than any of these fans could ever imagine.

"He is so incredibly hot!" one girl squealed quietly against the glass.

"I know, right?!"

"Where exactly is Beidhen anyway?"

"I saw him walking toward the Guidance Office earlier."

"I honestly can't wait to see them perform live next week!"

Leansei's lips subtly, involuntarily curved into a tiny smile, silently agreeing with their assessment.

"I want to be his official girlfriend so badly!" another student sighed.

"Don't even bother dreaming about it, girl—he is engaged."

"Honestly, I can't even bring myself to hate the arrangement. His fiancée is remarkably famous and beautiful."

"Right? She's also technically registered as a student here, correct?"

"Yeah, but due to her heavy high-fashion taping schedules, she only commutes to campus once in a while when her presence is mandatory."

"They look like such a powerful, flawless couple!"

The tiny curve on Leansei's lips withered away in a fraction of a second, his face turning entirely pale and hollow. He sharply turned his back on the window, marching away from the studio wing as fast as his legs could carry him.

He navigated the central courtyard pathways, passing through the busy corridors of the main cafeteria. Near the entrance, Corshe was standing by the counter. He caught sight of him, his hand raising to wave enthusiastically, but his fingers froze midway before he could even call Leansei's name. Corshe stared in absolute silence, catching the familiar, deeply upset and devastated look clouding his friend's face. But before Corshe could break away to chase him down, his attention was violently shattered as his own name was called from the kitchen corridor.

"Corshe! Get back in here!" Corshe grumbled, reluctantly stepping inside the cafeteria staff's private room. He had explicitly volunteered his afternoon hours for the event's food distribution roster—more accurately, he had signed up because Tael was the executive in charge of finalizing the catering options for the upcoming acquaintance party.

Corshe glanced at Tael's broad back. The chef was entirely absorbed in reviewing a heavy folder containing the menu choices. Corshe had managed to secure this mandatory assistant role only after aggressively begging and pestering Xeilin for three consecutive days until the president surrendered.

' But what on earth happened to Gawin out there? ' Corshe thought, his brow furrowing with deep worry. He looked completely, utterly upset...'

Meanwhile, Leansei continued his rapid retreat, his steps slowing down as he entered the central campus garden. He stopped dead in his tracks, his gray pupils widening.

Sitting side by side on a stone bench under the shade of the trees were Xeilin and Rell. Xeilin was clumsily cradling an acoustic guitar in his lap, while Rell sat remarkably close beside him, his large hand gently guiding Xeilin's fingers across the fretboard, patiently teaching the flustered president how to transition between the chords.

Watching the quiet, intimate scene play out, the raw irritation inside Leansei's chest slowly began to soothe, and he let out a deep, peaceful sigh into the fresh air.

' How long have those two actually been that close? ' he thought, a small, genuine smile touching his lips. He vigorously shook his head to clear his thoughts, deciding to mind his own business, and finally walked down the final corridor to enter the Tech Office to fulfill his duties.

.

The soft, rhythmic friction of their sneakers against the polished hardwood faded as the final track ran out. Leansei adjusted his glasses, rolling up his master schedule sheet as he ambled across the court towards Del and Vio.

"I think let's wrap up everything for today," Leansei instructed, his voice steady but carrying the clear fatigue of the long afternoon. "Rest early tonight, since the rehearsal tomorrow will consume the entire afternoon block."

"Yes, thank you so much, Vice!" Del chirped, wiping sweat from her brow as Vio offered a grateful nod.

"Kean." Leansei glanced behind his shoulder, spotting Xeilin peaking into the gym through the heavy double doors, his eyes scanning the empty bleachers.

"Yeah?"

"After wrapping up things here, can you check the storage room down the hall for the remaining logistics equipment?" Xeilin requested, checking off an item on his own clipboard.

Leansei nodded smoothly. "Okay, I'll do it right after this."

"Okay, thanks! We'll be waiting for you near the front gate," Xeilin said with a brief smile before turning on his heel and leaving.

After ensuring the gym floor was entirely clear, Leansei headed down the dimly lit corridor toward the restricted wing. The hallways were weirdly quiet; not a single student was seen since the clock was already at a quarter to five. He entered the storage room, meticulously checking the used sound equipment, counting the remaining cables, and organizing the boxes that had been left wide open by the decor crew. Once everything matched his master checklist, he secured the heavy padlock and went on his way.

But his footsteps came to a violent, absolute halt when a figure suddenly emerged from the adjacent closed practice studio.

It was Xerchin.

' I thought he already went home. '

Leansei's heart started to jump instantly. The ambient silence of the empty hallway felt so suffocatingly loud that he genuinely feared Xerchin might be able to hear his erratic, skyrocketing heart rate through his shirt. Before either of them could utter a single word, their attention was caught by the echoing, distinct sound of a group of girls laughing and turning the corner of the corridor.

Leansei panicked. The realization hit him like a physical blow: if those devoted fans caught the two of them standing solitary in a deserted hallway at this hour, it would spark a massive, unstoppable wave of malicious campus gossip, bringing even more unbridled hatred toward Kean's name.

Before Leansei could even attempt to run away down the emergency exit door, Xerchin's hand snapped out like a vice. He caught Leansei by the arm, forcefully yet smoothly pulling him straight into the nearest available door—a cramped, dark staff room used exclusively for the janitor's heavy storage equipment.

Click.

Leansei was leaned heavily against the wooden panels of the door, his back flat against the frame, while Xerchin's broad hand instantly clamped firmly over his mouth to silence any sound. Xerchin's chest was pressed remarkably close to his torso, mere inches away, completely trapping him in the shadows.

The suffocating proximity violently reminded Leansei of that rainy afternoon inside the campus clinic. Standing trapped in the dark space, he could distinctly smell Xerchin's intoxicating scent. It wasn't the chemical fragrance of an expensive imported perfume; it was the raw, profoundly familiar scent that he always associated with the athlete's skin.

"Are you guys absolutely sure he's down this wing?" a high-pitched voice echoed right outside the wall.

"Of course! This time around is officially the end of his closed practice session."

"We just have to find a way to give this homemade food container to him."

"But he hasn't touched a single one of our offerings yet—"

Leansei's pupils dilated, and he began to struggle against the grip, his muscles tensing to push the athlete away. But Xerchin instantly put a tighter hold on his mouth—not rough enough to leave a physical bruise against Kean's fragile skin, but with enough unyielding pressure to signal him not to move a single joint.

The frantic chatter of the girls came closer and closer, their footsteps halting right outside the threshold.

"Wait... did you hear that?"

"Hear what?"

"I swear I heard a rustling sound coming from inside this staff's storage room."

Leansei widened his eyes in absolute, pure panic as the metallic door handle suddenly began to turn clockwise. Xerchin didn't lose a fraction of a second, his large, calloused fingers immediately wrapping firmly around the interior doorknob, holding it tightly with extreme physical leverage to ensure the other side couldn't open it.

Leansei squeezed his eyes shut, his chest heaving silently against Xerchin's shirt. He was entirely, absolutely clueless as to what kind of high-society scandal would break if they were spotted hiding alone together in a janitor's closet.

"That's weird—the handle won't turn at all," a girl grumbled from the other side, aggressively rattling the lock.

"What do you mean it won't open?"

"Let me try it."

The metal handle violently twisted back and forth against Xerchin's tight grip, but the athlete didn't budge an inch, his muscles locking the mechanism in place.

"Maybe the lock is just broken?"

"What on earth are you guys wasting time here for anyway? If we linger, we might completely lose track of Xerchin's car at this cost!"

"Yeah, you're right. Come on, move now!"

"Ugh, this shouldn't be a total waste! We didn't wait around after class for nothing."

Leansei let out a long, deep sigh of profound relief as the dry scraping of their footsteps and their fading voices finally sounded far away down the corridor. The danger had officially passed.

Slowly, carefully, Leansei opened his eyes. Standing mere inches away under the dim light filtering through the door vent, Xerchin was staring down at him. Those mercurial blue eyes were looking straight into his pupils with a pure, angelic, and breathtakingly gentle look. It was a raw, unshielded gaze filled entirely with a heavy, desperate wave of yearning.

Leansei's gray eyes were completely captivated, trapped by the sheer intensity of the stare. In the absolute quiet of the storage closet, he didn't even mind the factual reality that Xerchin's hand was still resting over his mouth, the fingers now loosening its pressure entirely.

' How long did we actually take to get closer like this? ' Leansei's mind spun into a chaotic, beautiful circle, his defenses crumbling completely. ' Was it just a single day? Or two? Whatever the exact duration was... this feeling... this suffocating proximity currently feels somewhat... good. '

The electrifying tension between them deepened, expanding until it filled every single inch of the small room. It felt exactly as if they were meticulously examining each other's features in the dark, silently admitting how desperately they had missed every single angle of their faces during the days they spent ignoring each other on campus. It was a captivating, heart-fluttering sensation that made Leansei's head spin.

Xerchin's hand loosened even more, the palm sliding away from Leansei's lips. But instead of dropping his arm back to his side, his large hand moved gently upward, his fingers tracing over Leansei's brow before softly covering his gray eyes, shielding him from the light.

Before Leansei could even process the action or find the vocal cords to question it, Xerchin hovered over his frame. The final, agonizing inch between their lips vibrated with a breathless, heavy hesitation that made the entire timeline stand still. Leansei didn't pull back. He didn't even dare to breathe, his absolute silence operating as a quiet, unspoken invitation to shatter the boundaries.

Closing his eyes against the raw intensity of the moment beneath the warmth of Xerchin's palm, Leansei finally surrendered his soul to the gravity pulling their bodies together. He leaned forward and closed the final distance, his lips meeting Leansei's in a soft, shattering, and devastatingly sweet touch.
