Lex was bonded with Fenrir, allowing him to pull his wolf back from across realms. That was not all. In fact, Lex and Fenrir both benefited from each other's strengths, providing each other feedback based on their own strengths. It was just that Lex was so much stronger than Fenrir, that his feedback to Fenrir was more pronounced than the other way around.
Lex didn't mind. Fenrir, to begin with, was originally meant to be a protector of the Midnight Inn. It was just that he was generally too weak to adopt that role in most high stakes situations. But sooner or later, he'd rise up to that role, Lex was sure of it.
There was just one problem. Since before Lex had been attacked by Daekol, Fenrir had been baited away, and had gotten lost somewhere in the Dream realm. Now, he was no longer there.
