Idris felt the power that flowed into him. "The Superb Necromancer Technique" wasn't just for show. It had used his mana that returned to his body, after activating it. It was an uncommon reaction, but pointed out that it was stronger than normal techniques, due to its own mana.
The steps Idris had taken, before activating it, were just for the mana core to form.
He knew that it would give him a boost, but he could already sense what he could do with it in the future. It had great potential, more than Idris could ever imagine.
He felt great, but his cold gazes never changed.
He returned downstairs, where all the servants were still sitting in a circle. Their faces have lit up a bit as the time had passed, but they still didn't talk.
They didn't know if they could continue working in the mansion from now on. It was also unclear who would inherit the house and all of marquis Asteria's belongings.
And if something happened, that they didn't want to happen, they would lose their well paid job. And after that they wouldn't know if they found another place to work at.
Idris felt a bit of pity. He was still empathetic enough to at least sense their anxiety and concern for the future.
But he also became aware that his own feelings had become a bit dull. It showed on his face too, as he now always wore the same cold gaze.
His mask, which covered the left half of his face, made his face look scary, combined with his expression. The white eye only increased the feeling of awaiting death around him.
He turned around and went into the library. He had to learn new spells that were better for his current cultivation level.
He needed to search for a new book though, since the old one only listed spells to the intermediate stage.
He searched for a few minutes until he found "The Spellcaster Book". It had skills that reached to the king stage and was better suited for him.
He took it out of the shelf and opened it.
The spells he found were very strong compared to the previous ones.
In the end, after sorting everything out, that wasn't in his criteria, he decided on the following skills:
1. Dark Domain (expert): Creates a black sphere in which the user gets a great darkness magic boost.
2. Fire Lance (advanced): Creates a lance of fire.
3. Lightning Strike (advanced): Covers a weapon in lightning and lets the user shoot lightning rays.
4. Wind Armor (advanced): Creates a armor of wind around the body to protect the user.
5. Dark Flames (expert): Creates very hot flames, that can burn almost anything.
These 5 skills were the ones he wanted to focus on for the next days. They all had power he had yet to experience.
Idris started learning the spells directly after picking them out. He began with full enthusiasm.
After an hour he had understood the skills. They were still sloppy and not even near perfection.
Idris had also realized that his learning process was very effective. He could easily learn a king ranked spell. But he still wanted to wait for a while. The complexity of the spells would only increase and he wanted to slowly advance in learning skills.
His understanding of the elemental energies inside him had increased too. They were nearing another brakethrough.
As he was still amazed by the skills, a servant had appeared in the door. The servant was watching him with a calm expression. As soon as he was noticed, he said: "Young master, I have received a message from the king. It states that his majesty wants to see you."
"I see. Tell them that I will be there tomorrow morning." Idris was pleasantly surprised by the invitation. Bur he had heard that the marquis and the king had been close. It was probably because of marquis Asteria's death.
The servant nodded and turned around to pass on his massage.

King Ludwig's POV:
I had sent a message yesterday to inform the boy, my, now dead, friend had taken in, of an invitation.
I wanted to express my sympathy for him and let him have, whatever he wants to.
Marquis Asteria had spoken so good about that boy. He had said that the boy was 6 years old and had lost his parents in a raid of the knights of his own city. He had fled and landed in prison after arriving in the kingdom of Fariha.
I believed his name was Idris. He already had a rough backstory before coming here, but now even the marquis had died.
Idris had sent me a message, that he would be arriving today in the morning.
A guard came, informing me of a boy wanting to speak to me. I let him in and waited a moment, before the boy came in.
Idris was 1,20 metres tall and had a cold expression on his face. The left half of his head was covered by a devil mask, his eye white. The right side was quite normal. There was only a pink eye, a very unusual color. He had short, dark hair.
He was skinny, but a great power could be felt from him.
I was surprised. He looked very handsome and strong. Should I give him to my daughter? No, I don't think she would like that. Right?
Idris greeted me with a polite bow. I was again surprised by his politeness.
"I greet you, Idris. I have heard about you from marquis Asteria. That's why I sent the message to you." I stepped down the throne I was, as usually, sitting in and stood before him. I continued: "I wanted to speak with you about the assassination of the marquis."
Idris nodded and showed him that he understood.
I went around the room as I resumed: "Since you do not have anything here in this city, I thought of letting you get the money and belongings of marquis Asteria. If you want I would also let you live here in the palace. I will also grant you one wish."
Idris seemed to think about something and answered: "Thank you for your generosity. However I will not live inside this palace. As you asked me to wish something, please tell me who the marquis was killed by."
"It's fine if you don't want to live in here. But you're always welcome within these walls.
As for your wish, I will tell you. We do not know who killed marquise Asteria, but we have a suspect. Marquis Larmanton was alwayd on bad terms with marquis Asteria. He also has a criminal history and will soon be imprisoned." I told him what he wanted to hear. I thought he wouldn't do anything and so I was sure it wasn't a problem.
After that we chatted a bit more. I realized what a good child Idris was, but was shocked when his cold gaze never disappeared from his face.
I didn't know how to properly interact with him, due to his gloominess.
We ended our conversation and Idris returned home again.
I didn't know why, but I had a bad feeling about what would happen next.
