"You seem deep in thought, captain Aizen." Gin said as he walked into the throne room of Las Noches, where Aizen was sitting on his throne and resting his cheek on his fist.
Honestly, he couldn't help but be amused how often Gin went out of his way to talk with him. For a man that wanted him dead, he was very good at appearing friendly.
Still, it didn't bother him. It was nice to have someone intelligent to talk with in Las Noches, considering all others were either too 'loyal' to him or were just plain idiots. He wasn't bothered by Gin's desire to kill him either, in fact he was quite interested what kind of method his partner in crime slash protege slash wanna be killer would use to do it. Gin had been with him for over a century, almost half of which he had spent as Aizen's lieutenant, and had seen Aizen's power more often than anybody else. He could only hope that it would be something novel.
"Merely thinking about the future and our plans."
"And maybe how a certain Quincy might cause problems?"
"..." Aizen focused on maintaining his smile, not wanting to show just how right Gin was.
The Quincy, Cain Walter. He was the single biggest complication in his plans due to the simple fact that he had appeared out of nowhere and therefore Aizen didn't have a plan to deal with him.
He could likely defeat him in one on one combat but the way he had simply shrugged off Kurohitsugi was concerning. It likely had something to do with his powers interfering with the technique rather than him being able to just shrug it off since the technique had been strong enough to bring down Komamura; who, despite being rather disappointing, was still a captain level entity.
Yet there was also a strange part in his heart that was... excited.
The young man had thwarted my plans to acquire Urahara Kisuke's Hougyoku in order to feed it to my own and make it more powerful. The plan had been to bond with it and then start a war against Gotei, a war where he would have been pushed to his limits and then break through them with Hougyoku's power.
In a way this Cain Walter was perfect for it. He had defeated two captain level opponents using their Bankai at the same time, even if Komamura and Hitsugaya were rather low tier among the captains, and then went on to nearly kill the clown who deluded himself into thinking he was Urahara Kisuke's equal. Among the Shinigami there were three that could truly push him to his limits.
Head Captain Yamamoto, whom he already was planning to neutralize.
Captain Unohana, who was unwilling to draw her blade.
Urahara Kisuke, if only because the man could make a proper plan to use other Shinigamis to actually be a threat.
Yet this Cain Walter… perhaps he could be one too.
He had abilities he did not showcase and even if he had done it while Aizen was distracted, he still had landed a blow on him. And he was quite sure that the young Quincy was also the one to kill Tsunayashiro Tokinada. The noble heir may not have been half as capable as he thought himself as, but he was far from a weakling. Aizen would have gone as far as to say that he was roughly a middle ranked captain level fighter, especially if the rumors he had heard about the ancestral Zanpakuto of Tsunayashiro family was true.
And Cain Walter had killed him.
He could feel his smile become slightly more genuine and Kyoka Suigetsu slightly trembling within her sheath. Even the old girl was excited about this new variable.
"He is rather interesting." He said with a chuckle.
Perhaps he should send an Espada to the World of the Living in order to see how he was doing. The question was if he had one that was strong enough to actually cause an issue but not strong enough that their death wouldn't cause any problems for his plans.
That criteria automatically took out Ulquiorra and all the others above him. They were each powerful enough to actually matter in the final battle and Aizen actually liked having Ulquiorra around. He was smart enough to not be a dull conversationalist and still followed orders with no issues. None of the other Espada had both of these traits at the same time with the sole possible exception of Harribel.
Unfortunately, this also disqualified basically all the Espada who were strong enough. Sure, some of the lower Espadas did have interesting abilities that could take the Quincy by surprise and Grimmjow and Nnoitra were moderately powerful. Almost half as powerful as they thought themselves to be. But he doubted either of them could actually pose a challenge.
Perhaps he could use Grimmjow to test Kurosaki Ichigo though. The boy had been born as a side effect of one of his experiments and was biologically a great anomaly unlike any other, one who had massive potential considering how he had managed to claw his way to Bankai and used it to defeat Kuchiki Byakuya with less than a year of training.
But that wasn't going to be enough for the final battle.
Not strong enough to survive and definitely not strong enough to properly challenge Aizen.
Still, it was a bit too early to lose an Espada. Perhaps he could send someone dumb enough to start a fight along with someone smart and strong enough to haul the dumbass back?
But just who was dumb enough to...
"Oh by the way, captain Aizen, Yammy kinda ripped apart Roka-chan again. He says that he didn't see her while running in the hallways."
...perfect.
"Tell him to come here, and call Ulquiorra too, I have a mission for them."
He was starting to wonder about the situation in the World of the Living anyway.
