"Don't be stupid, Cloud, those things are going to rise even after hours of battle!" - Kaori exclaimed as she looked at the blond - "Let's just create a barrier and go destroy the one controlling the corpses!"
"That's not going to work, because those things can go through ice, so even if we cover the corridor, they'll end up following us" - replied Cloud while shaking his head - "Besides, those things aren't troublesome enough to cause me damage, it'll just be a bit annoying, that's why I'm going to ask them to destroy the one responsible as soon as possible"
"Ok" - nodded Yue as she looked at the others - "Let's go."
"Ok" - nodded the girls as Kaori looked at Cloud before following the others.
"Okay, let's have a little party" - said Cloud with a huge toothy grin.
* * * * *
"This way" - Yue said as she looked around with her eyes glowing with multiple colors - "In this direction I can feel a faint flow of mana."
The group of girls looked back constantly because they heard the sound of the fight Cloud was having against those immortal monsters.
"I still think we should have all moved forward together" - Kaori muttered while shaking her head - "I know he's strong, but he's still not in his best condition".
"But that's more than enough" - Tio said while frowning because despite her thermal clothing, she could feel that this place was much colder than the hallway - "I think we're close."
The girls looked around, but didn't notice anything different.
Tio frowned slightly as she closed her eyes because she felt like she heard something amidst the sound of the icy wind.
"Tio-san?" - Shizuku asked in surprise, though her expression changed when she heard the sound of something cutting through the wind - "We have visitors."
The girls stood on guard, though they found nothing strange.
"Are you sure, Shizuku-chan?" - Kaori asked as she looked at her friend.
"Yes, I managed to hear something, however, I'm not sure if it's very fast, or just invisible" - Shizuku replied while looking at Tio, who was still with her eyes closed - "And from what I see, I wasn't the only one to hear it."
The others looked at Tio, who seemed to be frowning.
"Up" - Tio muttered as she opened her eyes and looked up, and noticed how a pair of red eyes were watching them.
The girls quickly drew their weapons, only to hear the sound of something cracking.
Yue raised her hands and created a barrier around her, noticing how the sound of something hard impacted directly against it.
The girls looked at the creature, a strange eagle made of crystal.
"I see, that's why we didn't detect them, these creatures are made of the same component of the labyrinth, they are elemental beings" - Yue muttered while frowning because thanks to the appearance of this crystal creature, she had managed to detect the source of mana that seemed to be controlling the zombies - "Remia-san, I want you to aim in that direction and fire all the bullets you have in your clip"
"Okay!" - Remia exclaimed as she followed the vampire princess' instructions.
Yue narrowed her eyes as she watched the bullets go through the ice, though not as fast as she thought, and from what she had managed to detect, the strange magic core seemed to have moved after taking advantage of this reduction in speed.
"Did I make it, Yue-san?" - Remia asked as she looked at the young blonde.
"No, whatever is controlling the zombies, it has a consciousness of its own, and when it detected that we were attacking it, it dodged the bullets by taking advantage of the fact that they were slowed down by the ice protecting it" - Yue replied while frowning.
Remia frowned slightly before apologizing for not being able to kill that creature.
"You don't have to apologize, I should have known things wouldn't be as easy as I thought" - Yue replied as he shook his head - "Although now we know we found our target, so we just have to find a way to get it out of the ice and kill it fast."
The creature approached the ice, and the group noticed that it was some kind of liquid substance with a huge red dot in the center,
"It looks like the monster we found in the oasis, that giant Limo" - said Kaori while looking at Tio, who nodded at her words. She was about to say something else, when she heard the sound of a howl nearby - "Monsters to the north! Ice wolves!"
The girls prepared for the next attack while Remia decided to use her gun because her water attacks, would basically be ineffective against the monsters in this maze, mostly because the temperature would turn them into ice attacks.
"Remember that this maze reduces the power of fire attacks!" - Yue exclaimed as she divided her attention on maintaining the barrier and providing support if necessary, though her main job was to be on the lookout in case the strange slime loomed up to deliver a withering blow.
"I'll take care of the wolves!" - Shizuku exclaimed as she received all of her friend's buffs and set off to face off against the strange white beasts - "Give me ranged support, Remia-san!"
"Okay!" - Remia nodded as she pointed in the direction where the ice wolves were coming from.
"I guess I'll be the one to have to take care of the crystal eagles" - said Kaori as she spread her wings of light and prepared to fight in the air with her trusty spear made of holy energy in hand - "Come!"
The crystal eagle let out a mighty screech before flying against its next victim.
"I'll help you, Kaori-san" - Tio said as she took out her dragon wings and flew next to the silver-haired girl, after all, she knew that Kaori was still not very used to aerial combat.
Yue was silent as she pulled out the weapon Cloud had handed her, a magical gun that could channel her mana to fire elemental bullets at will.
Shizuku's sword glowed slightly as she danced gracefully across the battlefield, slashing at every wolf in her path, while the sound of gunfire accompanied her every time one of those monsters attacked her blind spot.
The sword princess had to admit that she was thankful that Remia was giving her support or she would have ended up with many wounds thanks to the wolves' huge reaction time.
Remia was letting out a sigh of relief at how she was being helpful, though she quickly returned to a serious expression because she knew there was no moment to lose.
Shizuku smiled slightly as she concentrated her mana on the edge of her sword - "Yaegashi Kenjutsu: Natsu (Yaegashi Sword Art: Summer)!"
The girl quickly leapt forward as she did a half-twirl with her sword, ending in a small spin that cut off her entire step, forming a cross of sorts before landing gracefully.
The wolves let out a howl of pain before their blood spilled out all over the place.
Shizuku nodded as she saw that her technique had proved successful, though it was still a bit difficult to execute because even though she had been the one to create it, it was still a huge overexertion for her muscles due to lack of practice in battle - "I guess I'm going to have to fight more with Tio-san."
The girl was so deep in thought, she didn't notice how a wolf had jumped straight against her throat, at least until she heard the sound of a gunshot, as well as something cold touching her face, the blood of the ice wolf.
"Be more careful, Shizuku-san!" - Remia exclaimed with a sigh.
"Sorry, I was thinking about my techniques that I let my mind fly at a time that could have caused my death" - Shizuku said with embarrassment as she made a mental note on how not to react in battle.
Yue watched this as she lowered her gun. She too was about to shoot, but Remia beat her to it because she had been focused the whole time on the battle of the black-haired, red-eyed girl.
Shizuku quickly returned to the barrier when she saw that she had annihilated all the wolves, she did this for two reasons, so she could rest without having to worry about danger, and so she could continue to analyze her movement and see if she could improve it.
Remia nodded when she saw that her young friend had returned safely, and looked in the direction where the ice wolves had appeared, after all, she knew that this was just the beginning.
Shizuku closed her eyes and recalled in slow motion all the movements she had made during the battle, analyzing to see what she could improve, or at least if she could reduce the number of movements so as to reduce the strain on her body.
Remia gave her a glance before focusing on the sky, and preparing herself in case she had to give support to the two girls who were fighting in the "sky".
Yue nodded at this, because at least now she could concentrate on the two most important points her job had.
