I walked into the unfamiliar classroom. It had a circle of desks and chairs on a second level, surrounding a lowered first level that was empty. My abductor had been waiting outside my room this morning and led me to this classroom, then promptly left, after telling me not to wonder off.
Great, I thought, more school. Just what I need, to get abducted by some random man and then end up just having to take additional courses on a foreign planet. Wait... wouldn't that make me an alien?
Just as I was trying to decide if I liked the idea of that or not, I noticed the other 'students' for lack of a better word. They all seemed to be about my age, and most of them seemed humanoid. They were sitting nervously at their desks, and some of them were quietly whispering to one another. I walked up to one of the empty desks and saw a small device laying on top of it. It looked like some sort of high-tech ear bud. I picked it up and put it in my ear and the incoherent whisperers of the other students became translated into words that I could understand.
I took a closer look at the other people in the room, and realized that although they all looked similar to humans, all of them had at least one characteristic that was different. Some had an extra eye, or arm, and one girl had claws growing, where her finger nails would normally be.
"Attention everyone", a voice said from the middle of the open area in the middle of the room. I looked toward but could see no one there. "I'm sure you all have questions, and they will all be answered in due time. First, let me introduce myself, I am Dr. Alexandrius Gallaxar, and I will be training you for the next 3 years."
Suddenly a man appeared in the middle of the room. I rubbed my eyes, thinking that I must not have gotten very much sleep last night. How and when did he get there? "No your eyes are not deceiving you," Dr. Gallaxar said, as may other students looked as confused as I was. "What I just did was magic and that is what you will be learning here too. However, you must be proven worthy of it first."
