Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

I took a shower in the locker room located on school grounds. I changed into my P.E. attire since I didn't have a spare uniform. I kept the towel inside a plastic bag, I've decided to throw it away later but not inside the school, since well... I'm pretty sure I would get in trouble.

Anyways, there was still afternoon class which wouldn't happen for at least four more hours. I decided to hang out in the cafeteria until then. The cafeteria was packed to the brim with my classmates our class was the only one that got canceled. I scanned around and couldn't help but notice that three people weren't around, as to how I was able to tell, it was because they were pretty notable.

I went to the nearest person I could find and asked them about it.

"Oh them? They weren't in the classroom, even before class was canceled."

I said my thanks and went away. I was very curious. I walked around the school, watching the other classes. I haven't noticed it before but, every other class seemed to be too dull. As if they were lifeless cardboard cutouts, only there to fill out the school. It probably had something to do with those people I was talking about before.

It was ten minutes until lunch, I had to get back to the cafeteria to buy lunch. Otherwise, it would get flooded with students from the other classes.

My classmates already had lunch, so I was easily able to get the things I wanted, chocolate stuffed cookies! So fragrant, so crunchy, and so sweet! Hehe, I've only ever tasted it once before, and that was on Valentine's. Our classroom was situated away from the cafeteria so it would sell out before I even got to leave my seat. As for whether or not it could fill my stomach, who cares? I only bought two since it was store policy that a student could only buy two per day. It just goes to show how popular these were.

To enjoy it even further, I bought a bottle of milk. It just so happened that I was feeling stuffed inside so I decided to enjoy my meal on the rooftop, the cafeteria would get crowded once the bell rings.

No one usually went up to the rooftop, despite it being a really good spot to hang out. Since the students rarely came up, why would the school waste funds on it? Unlike the rest of the school, the rooftop seemed dilapidated. There were benches here and there, some of them were moldy and rusty. As for the railings, they were barely up to standard.

I found a bench with less mold and rust, I rummaged around my pocket to get my handkerchief. Oh right, it was drenched in blood. I suppose I can just pat my ass off later.

I sat on the bench, unwrapping the plastic packaging in which the heavenly cookies were hidden in. The freshly baked smell of the cookies, coupled by sickly sweet aroma of the chocolate ships bakex within.

Without holding back, I bit into the cookie like a starving man. The crispy texture, and the satisfying crunch of the cookie was worth all the wait, chewing only amplified the flavour within the cookie, as the chocolate chips were now unbound, melting inside my mouth.

Shoving more cookies that could fit in my mouth, I relished in delight. The empty and dark feelings within my mind being temporarily subdued by the flavour.

I was so caught up in the taste that I failed to realise I was chocking, it only clicked in when I started running out of breath. Panic took over me as I desperately tried to swallow and clear a path for air to flow in to my lungs, but to no avail.

Was this how I was gonna die? Choking on cookies on an abandoned rooftop? Fuck no! I wanna live!!! There's so much stuff that I wanna do! I wanna eat more ice-cream, I want to finish my manga, I want to play more games, I WANT TO SPEND MORE TIME WITH FRIENDS!

The perspective of time while your dying was slowed down, important moments of my life flashing through my mind, my parents, my family, my friends, school, all those memories leading up to the day before and today.

The image of the guy who saved him, who he currently assumed now was sleeping soundly on a hospital bed after bleeding out to save him.

He didn't want to waste that guy's effort, certainly not on choking!

Having an epiphany, I suddenly remembered the bottle of milk that I bought alongside the cookies. I poured the milk into my mouth, the moisture softening the cookies, to the extent of where I can chew them again.

I gasped for air, feeling the breeze flow into my lungs. Relieved, I let out a sigh. Only to burst out laughing seconds later, I mean, I almost died because of choking.

"Hahaha!"

"God I'm stupid."

I leaned back relaxing.

Wait no

My back touched nothing but air. The sudden change in balance made fall backwards, colliding with the rusty railings behind me. Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit!

Creeeeeeek~

The railings let out a horrifying screech as it gave out, I heard it snap! My feet was above my torso, there were screams beneath me.

I came falling down, it was so fast that I was barely able to scream until my head collided with the concrete below. The ground was stained by a mixture of red and pink, it was disgusting.

Everything was numb, everything except for the excruciating pain I felt in my head. My vision was blacking out, I could see the shoes of my schoolmates stuck in place. There was an irritating ringing inside my ears, it won't stop. A voice was whispering something to me, but I ignored it.

I wish I could've thanked him.

Was the last thing I thought of before I died.
