Before Shen Shuci even reached the living room, she heard bursts of laughter inside. She adjusted her breathing, squeezed out a faint smile on her lips, and before she could step through the doorway, Tang Wan came out to meet her, taking her arm and complaining that she had arrived too late.
"There was some traffic, you all could have started eating without me."
"There's no rush, godfather is in the bedroom doing a health checkup on grandma." Tang Wan led her inside. "Plus, you're not the last one to arrive. Third uncle hasn't shown up yet."
"Hm? A health check?" A shiver ran through Shen Shuci. The health of the Madam of the Shen Family was never very good.
This had been a lingering aftereffect since the middle-aged loss of her daughter; she never fully recovered.
"Don't be nervous, godfather just happened to come over tonight, so he took the chance to give her a checkup. Don't worry about it."
