Chester smiled. "Just think of it as being prepared for a rainy day."
Thinking of the ordeal he would face tomorrow, Alice's nose stung and her throat tightened.
"Just look at you…"
Chester stood up, walked to her side, and drew her into his arms. "Be good, don't overthink it, I'll get through this."
Alice pressed herself tightly against Chester's chest, her eyes brimming with tears.
Chester let out a long sigh. "I've already had Attorney Xin draft a will. If I'm unfortunate enough not to make it through this surgery, all the movable and immovable assets I've accumulated over the years, as well as 'QCS', will belong to you and Rachel."
Alice stared at Chester in shock, her eyes widening in disbelief.
"This is the only way I can make it up to you."
Alice shook her head hard. "I don't want them… I don't want any of this… I just want you to live well…"
