Early in the morning, Rebecca Quentin got up. She busied herself with household chores and made breakfast for herself, quickly passing the entire morning.
At noon, while she was preparing lunch, Rebecca suddenly heard the doorbell ring. She rushed to open the door, only to find the empty hallway on the other side.
She had imagined it; no one was ringing the doorbell!
Returning to the kitchen, she brought out the prepared lunch and sat alone at the dining table to eat.
Her appetite was never good, and now, looking at the steaming food, she had no appetite at all.
She picked up her spoon and forced herself to take a few bites, but still couldn't eat much. Finally, she put down the spoon, leaned back in her chair, and fell into deep thought.
Why are people so contradictory?
She knew that she had to say those words to him, and those words were indeed what she wanted to say to him the most. But after speaking to him, she couldn't sleep all night.
