Chapter 10 - Broly Returns: PT 2

The air in the Capsule Corp yard still shimmered with residual dimensional energy, a toxic scent mixing with the ozone left by intense Ki blasts. Goku and Vegeta stood panting, their Super Saiyan Blue forms having just flickered out, leaving them bruised and exhausted. Piccolo, Gohan, and the others gathered around, analyzing the crater where the powerful, dimension-hopping female warrior, Kira, had disappeared—not defeated, but driven off by a coordinated final assault.

The victory felt hollow. Kira was a force unlike anything they had recently faced: a warrior who didn't just fight, but drained their Ki, growing stronger with every attack she blocked. Her power wasn't raw, savage strength, but a frighteningly intelligent form of energy manipulation.

"She didn't run because she was beaten," Vegeta rasped, adjusting his ripped armor. "She calculated that the energy expenditure required to finish us was too high, given the damage she took. She'll be back, and she'll have refined her methods."

Goku nodded gravely. "Yeah, her Ki felt... cold. Like the opposite of life. It's a good thing Broly arrived when he did. His brute force was the only thing that briefly overwhelmed her absorption technique."

Just as Goku mentioned him, Broly descended slowly from the sky, his frame still massively imposing even in his calmer, controlled Super Saiyan form (a state he'd finally achieved years ago). He looked different than the others; not exhausted, but profoundly disturbed. His emerald aura crackled not with residual battle fury, but with a palpable, internal distress.

He landed heavily beside the crater. For a creature who had previously communicated mostly in grunts and roars, the silence he maintained was deafening. He stared into the swirling residue where Kira had vanished, his powerful chest heaving with slow, ragged breaths.

Vegeta, always wary of the Legendary Saiyan's mood swings, crossed his arms. "Well, Broly? She's gone. What's the matter? Did she damage your favorite rock on Vampa?"

Broly didn't acknowledge the sarcasm. His gaze lifted, locking onto Goku, then sweeping across the shocked faces of the Z-Fighters. His voice, usually a deep rumble, was unnervingly soft, strained by a raw emotion none of them had heard from him before.

"She is gone," Broly confirmed, the words heavy stones dropping onto the peaceful Earth. He paused, struggling to articulate a secret he had carried for perhaps decades, a secret that now threatened the entire universe. "But she will return. And when she does... it will be because of me."

Goku frowned, stepping closer. "What do you mean, Broly? We all fought her. She's just another enemy to take out."

Broly shook his head slowly, the massive muscles in his neck taut. "Kakarot, she is not an enemy. Not... to me." He took another shuddering breath. "Kira... the warrior you fought... she is my daughter."

The silence that followed was absolute, broken only by the gentle sound of wind rustling through the palm trees.

Gohan's glasses nearly slipped off his nose. Piccolo's jaw dropped, a rare sight. Even Vegeta was momentarily speechless, his characteristic scowl frozen in a look of profound disbelief.

"Your... daughter?" Goku stammered, bewildered. "Broly, you've been on Vampa most of your life! How—"

Broly held up a massive hand, cutting Goku off. "A long time ago. Before Paragus found me again. There was... another. A scientist. A mercenary. She was from a distant system. She came to Vampa looking for samples, looking for power."

Broly began to recount, piecing together fragments of a life long-buried. He described the scientist, a sharp, cold woman whose ambition matched the Saiyan's raw power. She had been fascinated by him, not as a person, but as a biological weapon. Their brief, chaotic union was driven by proximity and raw survival in the hostile environment of Vampa.

"She wanted a child with my strength. A controlled weapon," Broly continued, his voice tight with pain. "When Kira was born... the scientist fled Vampa, taking Kira with her. She vanished into the stars. I never saw them again. Paragus... he encouraged me to forget her. Said she was a weakness."

Broly clenched his fists, the ground beneath his feet beginning to crack. "But Kira inherited my power. That cold, calculating malice you felt... that is the influence of her mother, mixed with my own destructive nature. I passed this curse to her."

Piccolo, ever the pragmatist, was the first to regain his composure. "Wait. If she's your daughter, Broly, why didn't you say anything? And why is she working with this 'Scarlet King' and attacking Earth?"

"I didn't know it was her until the final moments of the fight," Broly confessed. "The way she moved... the intensity of her LSSJ energy. It was exactly like my own, but corrupted, twisted by that absorption technique. I saw her eyes. They were mine. But filled with hate. Hate for this world... hate, perhaps, for me." Broly explained that Kira's fighting style—Ki absorption and dimensional travel—must have been learned from the Scarlet King's forces, molded by her mother's ambition. Kira wasn't just powerful; she was weaponized misery, a literal manifestation of Broly's worst impulses, honed by a truly malicious external force.

Goku looked at Broly with deep sympathy. He knew loss, and he knew the weight of inherited destiny. "Broly... this isn't your fault. You're a hero now. Whatever twisted her, it wasn't the Broly standing here."

Broly didn't accept the comfort. "I am the reason she has that power. I am the reason she is being used to destroy this peace. The others... Trunks and Goten... they shouldn't have to pay for my past."

At that moment, a sleek Capsule Corp air car landed, and Trunks and Goten hopped out. They had been on a distant training trip and rushed back, only to miss the main fight.

"Dad! Mr. Goku! What happened?" Trunks asked, scanning the damage. Goten, always more direct, pointed to the crater. "Did we win? Why is everyone so quiet?"

The two young heroes looked expectantly at the weary Z-Fighters, ready to be briefed on the standard cosmic threat.

Goku sighed, sharing a look with Vegeta. It was a new chapter, and the kids were now facing an enemy with a deeply personal, heartbreaking link to their own ally.

"Goten, Trunks," Goku said gently, pointing towards Broly. "This is a little more complicated than a simple villain fight..."

The truth hung heavy in the air, a burden now shared by the entire Capsule Corp family. Broly's shame, Kira's hatred, and the looming shadow of the Scarlet King now dominated their immediate future. Broly had to find her, not just to defeat her, but to try and save the only family he had ever truly created.
