"Agh!!!!" Liz began screaming, right after her body became engulfed in flames. "I'm on fire, I'm on fire!" She cried.
"It's a mutant!"
"Run!"
"Let's get out of here!"
While Liz did that the other people around us on the beach immediately took notice and began fleeing without any hesitation.
While Harry was freaking out, Ned as well.
The only ones absolutely calm right now being me, Felicia, and Gwen.
"Felicia, please calm down Ned. Gwen, take Harry. I'll handle Liz." I spoke.
Putting down my phone, after just sending out a text.
"Sure." Felicia replied.
"No problem." Gwen said. "Also, who did you just text?"
"Some back up." I replied. Getting to my feet, before slowly beginning to move closer to Liz.
Who noticed me immediately when I did. "Peter, no! Stay back!"
"Peter!" Harry cried, only for Gwen to immediately grab him and pull him back. "Let go of me Gwen!"
"No!" She replied. "And I know what's happening right now is crazy, but just trust Peter."
"Yes, please trust me." I said. Extending a hand slowly in Liz's direction.
"I said stop!" Liz shouted. "I... don't want to hurt you." She said quietly. A look of utter fear on her face.
"I know you don't." I replied. "Because you're a good person. Which is why I need you to take a minute and breath. So you don't hurt me, or anyone else, even by accident. Now, do it with me." I said.
I then inhaled before slowly exhaling.
"Breathe Liz." I said once more.
Inhaling then slowly exhaling again. "Breathe."
A few seconds once I began breathing Liz followed my lead.
As she did the flames coming off her body began to calm down and even recede.
"That's it. There we go." I calmly spoke.
I then quickly turned and checked on both Harry and Ned, seeing Felicia and Gwen were keeping them calm just as I was doing for Liz.
Nice.
Turning my attention back to Liz I took a few more steps forward. "Okay, now that you've calmed down, I want you to just try imagining the flames on your body simply turning off."
"Okay." Liz shakily replied.
She then closed her eyes and began inhaling and exhaling once more.
Then about a minute after she did the flames covering her body completely disappeared.
After which Liz opened her eyes, a look of relief appearing on her face as she looked over her body and saw no flames.
"I did it!" Liz happily exclaimed. "I did it."
"Great, Liz." I replied, my eyes focused on the ground.
"Liz!"
Then just after I did I heard Harry call out to Liz.
Turning my gaze in the direction of his voice I saw him, and the others, walking up.
Ned keeping his gaze towards the ground like me.
Why?
Because due to Liz's powers she's currently utterly and completely naked, for just like Johnny if she uses her powers when in her regular clothing they will burn off entirely.
"Harry!" Liz cried.
"I'm so glad, you're okay." Harry said. "But why are you naked?"
"What, I'm not-Oh god I'm naked!" Liz exclaimed. "Why?!" She cried in embarrassment.
"My guess is that your clothing couldn't withstand the temperature of the flames your body was generating." I commented.
"Okay. But understanding why doesn't change the fact I'm still naked!" Liz shouted again.
"Don't worry, I got you." Felicia said.
She then ran off and returned with a large beach towel. She then walked over to Liz and I heard rustling.
"Okay boys, you can look now." Felicia spoke a second later.
When she did both Ned and I raised our heads up and looked at Liz once more, who now had a giant towel wrapped around her body.
"Excellent move Hardy." I commented.
"Thanks Parker." She replied.
"Hey, if you two are done complimenting each other can we get back to the matter at hand." Harry said. "Like the fact my girlfriend just burst into flames for no reason."
"And survived." I pointed out.
"Yeah." Ned commented. "She did. Like the Human Torch does." He spoke. "Oh man, Liz you're like a female Human Torch now. That's so cool."
"But why?" Liz questioned. "I mean I'm certain I've never been exposed to exotic cosmic rays in my entire life."
"That's likely because like some people said earlier, you're a mutant." Gwen said.
"Oh." Liz said. Getting a slightly depressed look on her face.
"Hey, what's with that look Liz?" I asked.
"Well I'm a mutant Peter."
"Yes. And?" I spoke. "That doesn't make you any less human. It simply means because of your genetics you've unlocked superhuman abilities. Just like other members of the population. Nothing more and nothing less."
"Peter is right Liz." Gwen added. "Just because you have an active X-Gene doesn't mean you're still not you."
"Yeah. And news flash every human on the planet basically has the X-Gene, but again most of the time it's simply the luck of the genetic draw if it will activate or not and allow them to manifest powers. So I really don't see why Mutants get such a bad reputation? Because honestly if you want to be technical about it the Fantastic Four and even the spider couple are mutants. Given all of them have altered DNA and genetics. Then again if likely has something to do with the name. Because when I think of Mutants I think of grosteque and disgusting monsters that appear in either sci-fi or horror movies. Honestly the person who came up with the names Mutants is a complete and total idiot."
Charles Xavier I'm looking at you.
"I see where you're coming from Peter." Harry spoke. "And wow, I never knew you were so passionate about the subject of mutants."
"I'm a man of many passions." I said cryptically. "Though I only got into this one recently."
"Why?" Ned asked.
But before I could answer him Johnny suddenly landed on the ground near us.
"Okay everyone, you can relax. Johnny Storm, the Human Torch is here!" He proclaimed.
"Agh!"
His entrance scaring Liz, leading her to immediately burst into flames again.
As this occurred I turned to Johnny and gave him a deadpan look.
"Oh, oops." He said, as he turned off his own flames. An apologetic expression on his face.
Right as the Fantast-car landed on the beach and Reed and the other disembarked from it and walked over to us.
When they did and Susan saw the look I was giving Johnny she simply shook her head and sighed. Then a few seconds later she turned to me. "Peter, on behalf of Johnny I apologize."
"Thank you Sue." I replied.
"Holy shit, the Fantastic Four!"
Then right after I did Felicia shouted. A shocked expression on her face.
The same with everyone else.
"Peter is this who you texted earlier?" Gwen asked.
Turning to her I nodded.
"Yep." I replied. "I mean given the similarities between Liz and Johnny's powers, and her sudden public display of them, I figured we'd need some big guns to make sure the entire situation didn't dissolve into absolute chaos. Ergo I texted Johnny and thus the Fantastic Four arrived."
"Hello children, it's a pleasure to meet Peter's friends. And good to see you again miss Stacy." Reed spoke.
"You to doctor Richards." Gwen replied.
"The Fantastic Four. This probably the best day of my life. Beside getting my first chin hair." Ned said. Before immediately shutting his mouth.
"Um, can you really help me?" Liz carefully asked.
"Don't worry young lady, if anyone can figure out a way to help you it's Stretch and Susie here." Ben said.
"Yes, well do our very best to assist you." Susan commented. "Now then, everyone please gather your things and then group together."
Following Susan's instructions we did just that.
Then once we did Johnny ignored his flames and took to the skies once more. After which Reed and the others got back in the Fantasti-Car.
Once they did we all immediately found ourselves in one of Susan force-field bubbles.
"Now then children, just enjoy the ride."
"Where are you taking us, if you don't mind me asking?" Felicia questioned.
"Back to the Baxter Building." Susan replied.
Then right after she did we were on our way.
"Best beach trip, ever." Ned spoke, once we were in the air.
The others, and even I, agreeing with him.
