The young adult continued to swing his sword. Each one of the swings creating great gusts of wind, akin to a storm. His muscles strained and his black hair glistened with sweat as he continued to swing the great sword in his hands. And as he continued to swing, he remembered.
**FLASHBACK**
"Cleria, take him and run" his father's scream, and then a bloody gurgle as a sword pierced his throat. His mother trying to drag his body, paralyzed with fear, away. The murderer of his father looking at them with pity. His mother last magic sending him away as the murderer plunged his sword in her back.
**FLASHBACK ENDED**
With a last swing, he created a great red slash that split the earth before him in two.
"Are you okay, my lord." He turned back, towards the one who was trying to help him in a way. The man's most eye catching trait definitely was his bluish white hair and his butler uniform, it made his rather handsome bespectacled face ordinary by comparison. Invel Yura Lucifuge, child of a Hyakki, an ice elf, and infamous criminal Euclid Lucifuge. And his butler slash bodyguard.
"Yes, yes I'm okay Invel. Just lost in thoughts." He admitted. "Are the preparations ready?" He asked the bespectacled half-devil.
"Yes lord Tenma. Zora and Caren are both in the target location and lady Valerie is waiting for you."
"Then I guess it would be rude to keep her waiting." Tenma chuckled as he went to prepare.
Yaegaki Tenma Belial, human reborn in the world of DxD as a devil. It was time to enter the bigger stage of the world. Canon is about to begin.
*************
Even after all these years, this church still caused some unpleasant memories to resurface. A simple abandoned church for the denizens of Kuoh town, but for him, it was his parents' grave.
Their smiles, trying to hide their horror, just before they send him away with no clear destination in their mind and more importantly, before they were butchered by that murderer. It was funny, he was pretty much a self insert and knew that he was in the world of DxD so he should've been able to save them. Wasn't that the whole shtick of self inserts? Saving everyone, getting chicks and living a power fantasy? But no, no he couldn't save them for one simple reason…
Denial!
It was all because he was in denial for all those years, not understanding the gravity of his situation! And it had costed him his parents. Yaegaki Masaomi and Cleria Belial were dead for two reasons:
One; because he could not understand the gravity of the situation and acted like a moronic child.
Two; because of Baels and Church!
Tenma took a deep breath to calm himself down. It wouldn't do well to let his anger control him. His mission required some amount of stealth for the time being after all. So he just walked towards the church with Invel on his left and Valerie on his right.
Now she was a change. The world was different from what he'd seen from the anime and read in light novels, with Invel and some other people from other series living in this world, but Valerie's change was all on him. Something that had happened due to his actions. So instead of the air headed blond vampire onee-san from the novels, he had a gorgeous lady in black dress ready to slaughter their enemies. He definitely got the better deal.
As he continued to approach the church he could not help but look at his own state of dress. Unlike his parents, who had always clothed themselves in everyday clothes in any kind of situation, he was wearing a rather expensive tuxedo suit without any ties but instead he had its top button unbuttoned and had a chain necklace on his neck. He could probably come up with any kind of excuses for his clothes but the truth was that he simply liked the look. It was a bit chuuni for his age but he still made it look good so there wasn't a problem.
In front of the Church's door were two figures. One of them was a man with wavy red hair and black bandages around his mouth, which did nothing to hide his shark like teeth. The other was a woman with long white hair and amber eyes in a dress and stockings over pantyhose without a skirt.
Zora Ideale and Caren Hortensia. Tenma's team mates and pawns of his peerage.
"Is the barrier ready, Zora?" Tenma asked for confirmation from his friend, who simply smiled wider than what should be humanely possible.
"Yeah, the barrier will keep any kind of magic and sound from being detected. You could have a Satan go wild in there and no one would realize it."
Tenma nodded at his friend, who while not exactly the strongest, was a master of Bounded Fields. Which left only two things.
"Are the targets in there?"
"Yes." Caren answered her leader. "Four fallen birds and their rag tag motley crew are all in there." It was rather amazing how she could insult them with such a serene expression.
"Very well. Zora, you know what to do." Tenma turned to his red headed friend, really hoping the bastard wouldn't want an explanation to make him look lame.
"Yeah yeah, I will go and get the pervert. Not sure why you even need him though." Zora scratched the back of his head as a magic circle appeared under his feet and teleported him to his targets location. Caren scoffed when he left and turned to her leader.
"I still do not understand why you added that rat in our group or why we actually need that perverted waste of space."
"Are you questioning Tenma's choices, executor?" Valerie's cold voice cut through the night and Caren simply materialized her black keys, ready to fight the vampire. Behind them Invel readied himself to use magic and stepped in front of Tenma, much to his amusement.
"Don't worry Valerie, Caren is simply curious. There is nothing wrong with that." Tenma put a hand on the vampire's shoulder, which calmed her down almost immediately and caused her elven ears to slightly turn red.
"It is still quite interesting to see you calm down that overgrown mosquito with such simple gestures." Caren smiled like a saint as she continued to badmouth Valerie.
"What was that? This Queen could not hear well what a little Pawn said." Valerie smiled in a way that showed her fangs as she reminded Caren what were their exact positions. Much to the ex-nuns ire.
"My piece was mutated, I very well might be greater than you, mosquito?" Caren smiled at Valerie, ready to throw her knives in a moments notice.
"A single mutated pawn being worth more nine pieces? Did you learn how to joke while I wasn't looking, heretic?" Valerie smiled back as her nails grew to claws, ready to slash Caren's throat.
"You two are embarrassing lord Tenma." Invel pushed his glasses with his middle and ring fingers.
"I think it's fun actually." Tenma smiled at the members of his peerage. Amused with the way they were treating each other. "But we do need to deal with the people in the church. It's a favor to old man Azazel after all." with that he turned serious as he walked towards the door with his peerage. Ready to kill.
