Vera grew pensive after hearing what Violet said. 'It seems Victor Morgan really did put a lot of thought into this.'
Vera was incredibly sharp. Just from observing Violet, she could tell that all of Victor Morgan's Hidden Guards were highly trained.
No wonder the Morgan Group had developed so rapidly, becoming the dominant power in Aethelgard.
"You really don't have to go to so much trouble, working yourself so hard every day. Alright, alright, come and eat."
"I'm telling you, Nanny Ward is an amazing cook. You absolutely have to try her food."
"And in a couple of days, I'll let you try my cooking."
Vera smiled as she spoke. She didn't want to draw such clear lines between them; she simply wanted a good friend.
But for Violet, years of training had made such formality a deeply ingrained habit.
As Vera Warner's guard, it was inappropriate for her to eat with her employer. Playing games with her last night had already pushed the boundaries.
