A plan was already forming in Victor Morgan's mind to fatten Vera Warner up. In his eyes, she was simply too thin.
'He thought about what his mother had said and agreed. It really was time to replace their chef.'
'If Vera knew what Victor was thinking right now, she'd probably jump up and refuse. She had always been so careful about her figure.'
After the meal, the nanny took Luke and Zola to another room to sleep.
"It's time for our afternoon nap again. I'll keep you company."
It seemed Victor Morgan had gotten used to taking afternoon naps with Vera every day. But when they napped at his family home, he was never well-behaved, a fact Vera was all too aware of.
"Let me tell you something, we're at your parents' house. We're not even married yet, when it comes down to it. So don't you dare try anything funny."
Anticipating Victor Morgan's roguish behavior, Vera was giving him a preemptive warning.
