Victor Morgan had never expected things with Vera to get to this point. While the incident with Sylvia Schuyler had infuriated her, he didn't think it was serious enough to cause a breakup. The whole thing was exhausting.
But no matter what, he didn't want to break up with Vera. He just wanted them to resolve these problems peacefully, not to separate.
For Vera, however, their relationship had simply been allowed to take its own course, and it lacked many crucial components. If they continued this way, everything would be taken for granted.
So Vera wanted to change things to avoid future regrets. If they didn't solve the problems between them, they would just run into the same trouble later on.
"Breaking up is really just about giving each other a chance. It's the only way we can understand what we truly mean to one another. I always backed down and compromised in the past because of the children, but that's not who I am. I believe this will be good for us both."
