But Sylvia's frail appearance put Victor Morgan in a very difficult position. He could, however, still distinguish which matter was more urgent.
Besides, he knew perfectly well that the person who would be by his side in the future was ultimately Vera Warner.
"Sylvia, don't worry. I promise I'll be back soon. I have something urgent I have to take care of right now."
But Sylvia clung to his arm, refusing to let go. "No," she insisted. "I know you won't come back if you leave. I can't let you leave me."
"Sylvia, don't let your imagination run wild. I just have something urgent to deal with; I'm not leaving you. You need to be more sensible. Don't make this difficult for me."
Victor Morgan's tone had lost its earlier patience. He was clearly anxious, and his expression grew impatient. This made Sylvia weakly release his arm, not daring to pester him further, lest her efforts backfire.
