She had thought that the sudden appearance of Vera Warner and her daughter, coupled with her own pointed remarks, would surely make Victor Morgan despise Vera.
But she never expected Victor Morgan to ask Chloe to stay. He was being so magnanimous; she couldn't afford to look petty in comparison.
So Sylvia Schuyler quickly walked over and put some food on Chloe's plate. "Oh, so you were just hungry, Chloe," she said gently. "Eat up. If you like it, you can come over to Auntie's house to eat anytime."
As she spoke, she also put some food on Zola Morgan's plate, playing the part of a generous hostess perfectly. The act clearly pleased Victor Morgan, and his gaze on her grew even more tender.
'Since this Vera Warner can't take a hint, I'll have to show her just how good things are between Victor and me. That will make her give up and retreat.'
So, after serving the two children, Sylvia turned to feed Victor Morgan herself. "Victor, try this pork loin. It used to be your favorite."
