Faced with Victor Morgan's frank admission, Vera Warner could only offer a faint smile. She didn't show any anger, just gave a calm nod.
Vera wouldn't lose her temper in front of the children.
So she kept her composure, but the moment the two children were on the school bus, the smile vanished from her face.
When she turned back to look at Victor Morgan, he looked like he was facing a formidable enemy.
"I confessed to get a lighter sentence. Shouldn't you cool down a bit?"
Vera politely led him back to the living room. There was none of the storm he had anticipated; she simply sat down calmly across from him.
"Mr. Morgan, we're both adults. We can be direct with each other. There's no need for you to use the children to deflect the issue."
Victor Morgan was a little taken aback by such a blunt question.
'Then again, this is better,' he thought. 'Getting things out in the open is more my style.'
"Alright, I'll be honest. I'm very interested in you, and I want to date you."
