Ella's legs instinctively pressed together as a startled sound escaped her.
"What do you mean kiss me there?!" she exclaimed, her voice pitching somewhere between shock and indignation. Her face burned so fiercely it felt like the heat might consume her whole.
Adam blinked once… then slowly, a grin began to spread across his face, equal parts disbelief and wicked amusement.
"Do not tell me," he drawled, arching a brow as he studied her flushed expression, "Nathaniel has never done that before?"
Her reaction was immediate. Her hands flew to her lap, pressing protectively as her face turned an even deeper shade of red.
"Of course not!" she snapped, mortified. "Why would he do that?!"
For a moment, Adam just looked at her, then he laughed. A low disbelieving, almost triumphant laugh.
"Well," he muttered under his breath, shaking his head slightly, "that explains a lot."
