Robert, accompanied by Sigrdrifa, made his way through the streets to the side of the New Palace Gate, awaiting summonation by "Iron Arm" William, the lord of Sicily.
Sigrdrifa stared silently at the city gate, which stood several meters tall in front of them.
It was an oddly shaped gate, built from a bizarre substance resembling limestone. Above the gate was the emblem of an eagle, with two humanoid reliefs on each side.
The first relief showed a hideous skeleton, the second depicted a charming young man, the third depicted an insane man with a phantom lower body, and the fourth was cloaked in a black robe, only revealing bony hands tightly clutching a twisted magic wand.
"These are relics left by the Carthaginians from the early Third Epoch, known as 'Gate to the Netherworld,'" Robert explained with a smile as he saw his daughter looking at the reliefs, "Of course, it's purely decorative and holds no extraordinary power."
