At the inception of the universe, all the planets in the solar system were formed. In a dark corner of space, there was a seemingly miniscule planet named Planet Erakus. The basis of all living things on this planet was the Elements of the galaxy.
There were 5 Primary Elements: Fire, Water, Air, Earth, and the most powerful of them all was Chaos. Said to be the origin of all the elements and the only thing that could be found before the universe was formed. These elements were what all living things on Planet Erakus were made of.
Over time, more and more creatures were born, all being innately connected to one or more elements. This was true for every being born on Erakus since it's creation.
Over the 100,000 year history of planet Erakus, mankind was born and eventually became the dominant species, but they didn't start out that way and their rise to dominance didn't happen without a lot of hardship and loss.
In the beginning, powerful Magic Beasts romed the ancient lands and humans were hard-pressed to defeat them with what they had available. The beasts were highly intelligent and fiercely territorial, they'd kill anything that ventured into their territory.
Only after awakening powerful elements inside their bodies, were humans able to fight back against the magic beasts that came before them.
The magic beasts were physically stronger than the humans by nature. So, this made the humans have to adapt and create techniques from their respective elements to help combat the ravenous fiends.
With their new techniques, they were able to get to a point where they were at a stalemate with the beasts, and neither would attack the other unless provoked. They were at war for over 50,000 years, each generation taught the history of the world and indoctrinated into a world of war, continuing the fight their ancestors started.
Over the 50,000 years of war between the two races, some of the beasts had devolved into mindless creatures and were very similar to animals youd find in the wilderness but a lot stronger.
Others evolved further. They didn't appreciate the humans' disregard of their lands, so they fought back. The humans refused to back down and stop invading the beast's land and the beasts, in turn, attacked to try to protect their lands.
The beasts came before the humans and even though some of the ones still fighting had devolved, they retained basic knowledge that was ingrained in their instincts. They were stronger than the humans so the planet rightfully belonged to them. That is how the centuries-long conflict with mankind and beasts began.
It took a long time before peace was made between the two races as they decided to share the world in the hopes that the future generations wouldn't have to grow up knowing nothing but war, pain, and death.
The peace between the Magic Beasts and Humans lasted for over 10,000 years before mankind decided that they should to spread their influence further, so they started taking over the lands of the mindless beasts that now roamed the world in droves, to build havens for them to live in and they created many cities and strongholds in these newly captured territories.
The beasts while wanting to fight back, remembered that the beasts were no longer cognizant and were no longer able to restore their past power and experiences so they came to be seen as simple animals that were run by only instinct.

Over the years, mankind expanded, creating whole kingdoms throughout the world. Other Races began popping up over time.
The race of what would eventually be called the Supernaturals arrived. They were a race of all manner of dark creatures to include, ghouls, ghosts, and shades, living shadows that live off of feeding on the shadows of the living and a variety of undead creatures.
The most powerful of the undead were the Vampires; once upon a time, they were the mortal enemies of the Werewolves but decided to work together in the end to stop the scourge that is the human race which had been expanding exponentially although their was still prejudice between the two races.
Other supernatural creatures that were spread throughout were things like Banshees, Dorocha, Nagas, and the Witch Covens. These other creatures never followed any one person outside their groups, especially the Witches, who believed themselves superior to the other Supernaturals especially the aforementioned strongest at least perceived to be the strongest.

Another group that had cropped up was the intelligent Beastman Tribe who had evolved from the ancient magic beasts who once roamed the lands. They were a combination of different beasts but were bi-pedal like humans.
There were the descendants of Skywing Tigers, Tigermen with bat-like wings on their backs.
Then the descendants of an ancient Raika Owl, which was said to be part dragon and owl. They looked like lizardmen with feathers and were considered one of the strongest of the Beastman Tribe.
The last were the descendants of the Supreme dragons, The Dragonkin. They were considered the absolute strongest of the ancient magic beasts, but for some reason, the dragons seemed to just disappear and no one knows if they are dead or simply in hiding.
The Dragonkin rule the Beastman Tribe, and they are closest with the Raika descendants because of the similarities between their ancestors. They are by far the strongest of all the existing Beastmen tribes.

There are another two races that are definitely in the top percentile at least when it comes to pure physical strength, and those are the Twin Giants.
The Twin Giants are two races of giants that live in diametrically opposing parts of the world. The Ice Giants live mostly in the far North, and The Fire Giants who mostly live in areas where volcanoes are often found. They were called the Twin Giants for the fact that aside from their specific elemental composition, they look practically identical.

A race that is shrouded in mystery is that of the Spirit Race. No one knows where they came from and how long they have actually been around. They were only discovered around 15,000 years ago, but they could very well be even older than the ancient magic beasts.
They are different from undead spirits, like poltergeists or wraiths but are closer to being Elementals, beings composed entirely of a specific element.
The Spirit Race mostly kept to themselves, so not much is known about them. They abhor conflict, but that doesn't mean that they are weak in the slightest. As a matter of fact, with their unique constitution, they are one of the most dangerous, and hardest to kill out of all the races aside from the Ancient Dragons.
The Spirit Race has a nearly complete corporeal form, this allows them to be completely immune to purely physical attacks, and have resistance against magical attacks. If the magic being used is superior to their magical attributes, which vary from person to person, then they can be affected. The same could be said if one infused their elements into their physical attacks.

The Human and other Race's kingdoms only increased in number and size over time. There were a total of six kingdoms on the planet, reminiscent of the six continents.
The intelligent beasts ruled one kingdom on the Eastern Continent of Endrasia and the Humans ruled the Western Continent of Lagrist.
The Supernaturals took the Southwestern Continent of Tenebrae, where it was as dark as the void of space most of the time and would be completely dark were it not for the blood moons that seemed to have formed over the continent different from the planet's normal twin moons, a phenomenon that no one has been able to figure out, seemingly known only to the Supernaturals themselves.
The Beastman Tribe resided in the Central Continent, between the Beasts in the East and the Humans in the West, sitting perfectly in the middle much like how they are a mix between the two races humanoid in nature but beastial in every aspect.
In regard to the Twin Giants, the Ice giants lived in the Northern Continent of Verglas and would always fight with their Kin brothers the Fire Giants if they ever encountered eachother as travel between their continents was relatively common as Giants were a warrior race that enjoyed testing their strength in battle.
The Fire Giants lived in the Southeastern Continent of Haelsif which was covered in volcanoes and magma lakes and powerful noxious fumes empowered by the magic in the region. This made travel through the continent very difficult and often deadly if you didn't have the protection against the toxic fumes
Each continent eventually created a kingdom, known to most simply as, The Capital. Each of the places was meant to be free of discrimination and prejudice against other races as all the subsequent races had been taught about the 50,000 year war and hoped to avoid a battle with the entire world.
All were welcome in these capital cities, as long as they weren't currently at war with a specific kingdom as continental wars hadn't happened in millenia.
This allowed for some interesting commingling of races and some mixed races began to surface. Most called these mixed races halflings and were named officially by each race such as Half-Spirit, Half-Giant, etc...

With magic being a major part of every living thing, and everyone needing to know how to manipulate and control whatever element you had an affinity with; Magic Schools were in each kingdom created to facilitate the teaching of the younger generation the history of the world and all manner of magic spells and techniques to help them survive in this world.
The elements have evolved as well, creating different subdivisions of the main elements. From the 5 Primary Elements to secondary and even tertiary elements, but despite the name, these fragments of the elements are not much weaker than the original. Some of the new subdivisions are even stronger. The other elements included Ice, Lightning, Magma, Sound, Metal, and Nature among others.

The Tertiary Elements are a mixture of the four main elements and the secondary elements. Some examples are Magnetism, Plasma, Life, Storm, and Sand.
One's affinity would be uncovered when they had their awakening ceremony at fifteen. All children on every continent, go through an awakening ceremony to determine what Magic School would be best according to their affinity.
These magic schools are located on every continent and once one Awakens, they can choose a school to attend, or, in rare cases, be selected by the administration at the more prestigious ones. Being selected by such a person, waived the entrance exam for that school and allowed for immediate enrollment.
One's affinity can be separated into different levels. From lowest to highest affinity would be Lesser, Minor, Small, Medium, Big, and Perfect. The only people who could be said to have the ability to get Perfect affinity in any elements would be Supreme Grand-Sorcerers.
The highest level reached by the humans of the past. Although no one has reached this level in over 20,000 years supposedly by a user of The Element of Chaos.
The Element of Chaos was a culmination of the other four in the sense that Chaos came before them all and everything was born from Chaos. A Chaos Element user would have the ability to use the four Primary Elements or it's subdivisions along with Chaos itself but it was unknown what the Element of Chaos could actually do.
Although the 5th Primary Element of Chaos has been lost to history, and no one has used it or even heard of it in the last 20,000 years. So, only four of the Primary Elements are used in modern society and believed to be the only Elements from which all their elements originated.
Only time will tell if The Lost Element will be discovered once again and how it's re-emergence could change the very fabric of the universe.
