Chapter 621 - New Challenge 14

Other versions were of the Salamander, while others were of the spirit version of the Salamander, resulting in varied forms they would take on and their abilities.

Their connection to fire was very deep, as they were considered embodiments of the elemental connection to fire itself.

Their fires were often considered to symbolise transformation and regeneration, while some others would be depicted in other ways.

Despite remembering such lore, Alyssia did not rush to guess what type of abilities Una would have, but that did not make her ignore them enough to let her guard down.

When she thought of lizards of various types, some had stronger regenerative abilities on their own, allowing them to have their limbs cut off and be able to regrow them.

If what was healing properties in the flames created by Una, then it might have been capable of much more, like regenerating parts of the body that may have been too severely damaged or completely severed.

Such a power could be quite well sought after if anyone ever heard about it.

That caused Alyssia to think to herself. 'Damn... if Blackbeard heard about this, he would come running this way!'

When Alyssia saw what had happened and figured things out, she scoffed. "So you think you have won just by healing yourself? I doubt that it has changed much."

The damage accumulated on the body may have vanished after healing herself, but Alyssia believed that there was a limit to the power of regeneration or self-healing.

It could allow someone to heal from their injuries, but it was not the type of power that could restore stamina.

It could restore the physical state to remove the damage done, yet the energy used up would not return.

It would likely not cost anything to heal herself like that, using her own flames, but there would be no improvement in how long she could keep herself fighting.

If it did cost her something to heal herself, then it would only drain her energy further.

If that were the case, then even greater wounds would end up needing more of her energy to heal from.

Seeing that her opponent could heal herself, Alyssia smirked more fiercely. "I do not have to worry about accidentally killing you now."

Her Electro grew more fierce as her Conqueror's Haki began to manifest all around her, as her god mode intensified.

A shape of a large serpent manifested behind her, which had taken on the properties of her Electro, giving off more of a threatening aura.

The serpent looked over to Una with its eyes glaring fiercely toward her like a predator ready to strike.

It was then that Alyssia vanished from her position, and the fight began.

Her attacks started to become far more fierce, with nothing being held back.

Everything and more was put into her every movement and strike as she finally took out her final cards to play in the battle, which were her Conqueror's Haki manifestation and her techniques that had been inspired by the giants.

With how the battle had been going, it was no longer possible for her to keep playing around and matching her opponent, especially when she was left wounded while her opponent could heal from the accumulated damage.

It did not matter whether the healing came at a cost of more energy.

What mattered was that the stamina of Una had not improved, even if she had been healed from the damage she suffered.

The only way to deal with her was to keep attacking so that she would not be able to recover any of that energy.

Barrages of attacks came one after another as the two fought fiercely with everything they had.

Una kept healing from the heavier blows that hit her, restoring her to her healthy state, but a change gradually began to take place.

Her breathing started to become a lot more laboured as if her stamina was depleting much faster.

All of the blows that hit Una kept coming too fast, making them more difficult to heal from, before more were added to her body.

Once a wound was healed, another appeared, so she had to try to heal that one.

It did not matter whether the flames themselves were what were healing her or if it was a part of their ability that needed to be activated to achieve it.

What mattered the most was that Alyssia was forcing Una to engulf herself in flames even more to heal from the wounds that were accumulating.

The more that she used her flames, the more energy that she would be using up.

The more that she would have to heal herself, the less time and energy she would have for using it for offence.

Once that started happening, more opportunities began to appear for Alyssia, who began to take full advantage of wearing Una down before she would start feeling like her own energy was falling.

It became a fight that would be determined by who would run out of energy first.

Despite her previous thoughts, Alyssia was considering going all out with everything that was at her disposal, including her fire-based techniques like Inferna.

She had to admit that she was gaining an advantage in the present situation, but it could end things more swiftly, even if it would be a double-edged sword for her.

While the effects of the fire would not work on Una, it did not remove the overall effects that would be produced by using those techniques and how they could enhance her fighting capabilities even further.

One of the reasons why Sanji was able to penetrate the defences of his opponents that had tough techniques and bodies of their own, while he was outmatched by them, it was often the fire-based techniques that were able to help him to overcome them each time.

Each of her techniques, abilities and innate advantages was just an additional tool in her arsenal that she could use.

If she added another layer of such a technique to what was already being used, then it would grant her even better acceleration and a heavier weight behind her every movement and attack.

While she could benefit from such a thing, it was already too late in the fight.

It was finally reaching the later stages of the fight as she and Una were deeply engaged in the intense fight.

Both were showing signs of getting more tired, yet their strong wills did not let them give up.

Neither side refused to fall.

A new clash began as they closed the distance when Una sent a strong right toward Alyssia.

The unpredictable movements of Alyssia continued as she moved out of the way of the punch.

The sweeping motion of Una's arms was ducked under as her body swayed to the side, looking like she had lost her balance.

Una seemed to have realised that she had missed her target, so she pulled back her first, ready to throw out another in rapid succession.

The hands of Alyssia went flat onto the ground with her body bent over, showing her lower back and legs to her opponent.

Her butt and tail seemed to be pushed toward Una, getting closer as if provoking her, until the next movement came too suddenly.

Her tail moved to one side as it was about to sweep around enough to come from one side and make contact with the side and back of the head of Una.

That forced her to pay attention to such a threat coming at her while having that path blocked for her.
