Chapter 48 - Chapter 46: The Fall of the Commission

Chapter 46: The Fall of the Commission

Author: Geraint

(MC's POV)

Wearing a coat and pulling the hood over my head, I looked at the mirror with a smug smile.

"Okay, I'm good to go!"

Look at this, Dad.

"Hm?"

Turning toward my computer, Roboco showed me a video.

"That's... the current head of the Commission, right?"

On the screen, a middle-aged woman was being prosecuted in court. She had a stoic, steely expression, turquoise eyes, and ash-blonde hair slicked back. She wore a black suit jacket and dress with a purple shirt and a necklace.

Yeah. They call her Madam President. After the corruption scandal was exposed to the public, the police began their own investigation. Thanks to the newly presented evidence, Madam President and the other Commissioners involved in illegal activities since the previous administration were arrested. They're now facing multiple criminal charges.

The court found them guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment.

"That's unfortunate for them. But it's their fault for letting the last president do as he pleased."

All Might spoke with Madam President before the incident, which sped things up. She admitted everything after seeing how furious he was. Apparently, he scared the hell out of them.

"Well, as Falcon, I wouldn't be scared. But now that I'm his adopted son... yeah, I don't want to imagine it. I'm a huge troublemaker."

Also, take a look at this, Father... this is what's happening across the country.

Roboco switched to another video. I saw city-wide protests erupting into chaos. People were clashing with police and Pro Heroes everywhere.

Sighing, I scratched the back of my head.

"I know I caused this... but it wasn't supposed to get this chaotic. It's like the whole city turned lawless. The police should be able to maintain order. All Might's still around, after all."

There's a miscalculation in your plan, Father.

"What?"

Your plan was simple. Distract the top Pro Heroes by pretending to be a villain. Then use Gentle Criminal and La Brava to spread the evidence across social media, keeping the Commission too busy to react properly. That would give your undercover team time to retrieve key files undetected. But—

"But?"

But something deeper was uncovered—something far worse than expected. The Commission's corruption spans decades. And worse, evidence of corruption among Pro Heroes was also leaked... which escalated the public's outrage.

A headache pounded behind my temples.

"The Commission again... How much darker can this get? I'm so sick of dealing with them—wait!"

I remembered something.

"I explicitly told my subordinates not to release anything about the corrupt Pro Heroes. That was for after we took control of the Commission!"

Roboco stayed silent.

I sighed again, watching the video of the chaos, when something caught my eye.

"Hm?"

In one of the protesting groups, I noticed people with colored handkerchiefs tied around their wrists. They were the ones inciting the most destruction, using subtle hand signals to coordinate.

I frowned.

"League of Villains? No... it's not them. Not the Yakuza either. They don't look the part."

This is bad, Father...

"What is it?"

Roboco's tone turned grave.

I just spoke with Grandpa Sebastian and told him you'd escaped Tartarus and returned to your room. He told me something urgent... it's about the Meta Liberation Army.

"No way—"

Re-Destro is making a move. He's using the chaos to his advantage. You have to act now, or things will spiral further out of control.

"Tch! I knew it!" I clicked my tongue. "Roboco, I'm going to fetch Lady Nagant and the others first. Let me know if anything major happens."

Understood, Father.

Without wasting time, I opened a wormhole and leapt inside.

[Tartarus – Exterior of My Cell]

Arriving in front of my cell, I recalled Roboco's words.

Tartarus... the dark side of Quirk society. It's said that no one ever escapes alive."Well, not anymore! Hahaha!"

Cracking my fists, I looked around.

"Roboco, release the security locks."

Roger, Father.

Right after her response, the alarms blared loudly.

ALARM NOISES INTENSIFY

I heard guards running toward me.

"Let's go."

A squad of guards appeared, pointing rifles at me.

"Freeze! Surrender or we'll shoot!"

I smiled.

"Open fire!"

Before they could, I waved my hand and used telekinesis to pull several guns away.

GUNFIRE

Bullets hit me, but I kept walking, unaffected.

"What the hell?!"

Their weapons emptied, and their faces turned pale.

"Everyone, retreat!"

"Not so fast."

I was about to use Force Choke when my AI daughter interrupted me.

Leave them alone, Father! I've already located Tsutsumi Kaina and Gentle Criminal. Stop playing the villain already!

I sighed. "Okay, okay."

After receiving her coordinates, I teleported to the surface of Tartarus.

[Tartarus – Inside the Cellblock]

Inside a cell sat a tall woman with a curvy build. She had long, dark blue hair with scattered pink streaks tied in a ponytail, two shoulder-length strands framing her face. Her purple eyes and dark angled brows still carried that intense, heroic aura from the past. Her hair was shorter now, and she wore the standard red-orange inmate jumpsuit of Tartarus.

"Yoh, Kaina-san!" I waved cheerfully.

"Huh?"

She glanced at me with a familiar serious look.

"Do I know you?" she asked with a frown.

"It's been a while, Lady Nagant. Eight years, actually."

"What? Who are you? I don't remember you."

"Eight years ago, you killed a corrupt Pro Hero involved in child trafficking. That alleyway incident—remember? I was the guy beating him up before you arrived."

"I remember that old guy... Falcon or whatever. What about him? Wait—how did you even get in here? Tartarus is unbreachable!"

"Oof. Everyone keeps calling Falcon an old man. That's emotional damage..."

"Anyway, I'm that Captain Falcon. Just... without the costume."

"Seriously?"

"Yep." I reached my hand into her cell. "I'm here to get you out."

"You realize what you're doing, right? If we escape, the Commission won't rest until we're hunted down like criminals. We'll never be free."

"Worry not. I've already dealt with the Commission. They're going to join you here soon—after I exposed their corruption."

"What?!"

"No time to explain. They're coming. So—do you want out, or do you want to wait here and welcome them?"

She hesitated.

"Also, since I now control the Hero Public Safety Commission—just a few days ago, in fact—I can legally erase your criminal charges. Give it a few months, and you'll be free to work as a Pro Hero again. I promise."

Her eyes widened. Her face showed pain and doubt.

"Why are you doing this for me? We're strangers."

"Because you saved me. That day in the alley, I was ready to cross a line I couldn't come back from. You stopped me. You're a true hero—and you don't belong in this place."

"I'm not the kind of Pro Hero you think I am. I've killed. I shed blood to protect a hollow peace."

I stepped forward, looking into her suffering expression.

"Exactly. That's the true face of a hero—strong and brave on the outside, but burdened and breaking on the inside."

SNAP!

Gripping the bars, I tore them open with brute force.

Walking into her cell, she backed away as I extended my hand.

"Kaina, let's go. Trust me."

She stared at my hand for a moment, slowly reaching for it.

Suddenly, guards appeared behind me with rifles.

"You two—freeze!"

Without turning, I grabbed her hand and pulled her into a hug.

"I shall return."

A wormhole opened, engulfing us as we vanished from Tartarus.

(To be continued.)

A/N: I'll fix any mistakes later.
