Sorry for the delay over the last few days, guys.

"What did you just say?" Tessa shouted, springing up from the ground in shock—only to cry out in pain as she collapsed again.

Wu Yang moved quickly, catching her before she hit the ground. He held her in his arms with a smug grin. "If your foot's injured, maybe try not to leap like that."

Tessa shoved at him with both hands. "Let go! Let go of me, you jerk—pervert! I said let go!"

"As you wish." Wu Yang casually released her.

"Ahh!" Tessa yelped as she hit the ground. "You bastard!"

Wu Yang chuckled. "That one's not on me."

Just then, a low growl cut through the air—another wolf approached.

Tessa's face paled. "You... You really saw my dad being chased by wolves?"

Wu Yang nonchalantly scratched his ear, pretending not to hear her.

"God, why do I even try talking to you?" Tessa fumed, frustration and fear bubbling in her chest.

Wu Yang glanced around, looking theatrically confused. "You? Who are you talking to?"

"YOU!" she snapped.

"Me?" Wu Yang pointed at himself. "If you're talking to me, then be respectful and call me husband."

"Husband? Drop dead!" Tessa lunged at him.

Wu Yang grinned. "No helping it, then. I'm off to roast this bear paw. Hopefully by the time it's done, you'll have found Uncle Cade." He turned and walked over to the dying brown bear.

Tessa's eyes flickered with hesitation and inner conflict. She slowly rose to her feet, gritting her teeth. "Damn it… I won't beg you. I'll do it myself!"

"Now that's the spirit." Wu Yang crouched beside the bear, already inspecting its paw.

Tessa limped forward determinedly—but then, a bloodcurdling scream echoed through the forest. Her expression changed in an instant. "Dad!"

Wu Yang, unfazed, was turning the bear's paw in his hand like a prized steak. "Nice and fatty. Should be delicious."

Tessa clenched her fists. "How can you be so heartless? You saved us once—was it all just a joke? Go save my dad!"

"I only do what I feel like. Why risk my life for your dad now? It's wolves, not puppies. I could die, y'know." Wu Yang shrugged.

"You're practically invincible!" she shot back, voice trembling with fury.

"Mm. Great marbling on this paw." He ignored her completely, focusing on the bear again.

Tessa's vision blurred with tears. Why? Why couldn't he be the one by her side right now—why did she have to feel this helpless?

"...Husband." The word was bitter in her mouth, but she forced it out.

In a flash, Wu Yang was at her side. "See? That wasn't so hard. Would've saved us both a lot of trouble if you'd just said it earlier."

"You—ugh!" Tessa barely had time to yell before she felt herself being swept off the ground. A gust of wind slapped her cheeks—Wu Yang was carrying her at ridiculous speed.

"Quit screaming. You're not gonna die."

"Let me down, dammit! How long are you planning to hold me?!"

Wu Yang stopped abruptly. "You wanna walk? Walk." He dropped her without ceremony.

Tessa glared daggers at him, then turned to the scene ahead. Cade stood surrounded by two snarling wolves, wielding a thick, two-meter-long branch like a spear. His pants were torn and soaked in blood.

"Dad!" Tessa screamed.

Cade turned his head slightly. "Tessa! Stay back! It's dangerous—run!"

"DAD!" she yelled again, panic rising.

One of the wolves suddenly lunged, leaping into the air toward Cade.

He ducked just in time. The wolf soared overhead, claws slashing across his back and leaving a deep gash. Cade roared in pain, swinging his branch wildly to drive the wolves back.

"Tessa, go! Leave me!"

She turned to Wu Yang in desperation. "Please, go help him!"

"Hm? What was that?" Wu Yang stuck a finger in his ear.

"You're unbelievable!" she screamed. "You'll only save him if I keep calling you that stupid title?"

"Exactly. You called me husband once, and I carried you here, didn't I?" Wu Yang spread his arms like a showman.

"I swear I'll kill you!" She pummeled his chest with small fists.

"Why so violent? This seat promotes peace and harmony." He caught her fists and reeled her in with ease.

"Let go of me or I'll bite you!" She sank her teeth into his chest—only to immediately regret it. "Oww! What the hell are you made of—steel?"

Wu Yang laughed. "Uncle Cade! You got this, man. I believe in you!"

Tessa glanced back and saw Cade staggering, bleeding badly. "Damn it! What do you want from me?! Just say it!"

"Smart girl," Wu Yang snapped his fingers. "Next time you see Sean, dump him. Break it off completely. After all, you're calling me husband now."

"You're insane!" she shouted.

"Pick one: your dad, or your boyfriend. You decide." Wu Yang turned back to the bear. "I'll be roasting this paw until you make up your mind. Hope it's not too late."

Tessa stared at his retreating back, seething. "You're despicable!"

"Thank you. I take pride in being shameless." He didn't even glance back.

Tessa stood frozen, trembling. After a long pause, she muttered, "I… I promise."

"There, was that so hard?" Wu Yang spun around, smug as ever. "Why waste so much time being dramatic?"

"You got what you wanted. Now GO!" she shouted.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm a man of my word." With that, Wu Yang sprinted toward Cade.

Cade was kneeling on one leg, gasping for air. He managed to fend off one wolf with his branch, but the other was mid-air, jaws wide open—headed straight for his face.
