Chapter 13 - The Storm Will Pass

(Many years ago)

"Father!" a small boy cried "I did it I did it!"

Mythos ran to the hillside to find his son levitating a bubble in midair.

"Amazing Kratos!" He said watching his son.

"Does that mean I can become use magic! Just like you! Magic is so cool!" His son said.

"Magic is in everyone son," Mythos said patting his head. "Anyone can use it! It's like air it no one owns it and no one controls it!"

Mythos maid a giant bubble of water float next to his sons.

"This is awesome!" Kratos said. "How did I live without it!"

"Magic is like air in another sense" Mythos siad. "It's fresh, and its free, having no Magic is like being trapped in a place with no air. But now that you have tasted it, it will never leave you my son."

(Back to present)

"HAhahahah! HAhahaahhaa!" Mythos heard in his head. He had returned home but the sound of Lizhins voice still rung in his head.

"What's wrong son? What did he do to you!" His mother said caressing him. "Nothing..." Mythos said. "Nothing at all..."

"Hey crybaby!" Mia said grabbing Mythos by the arm. "Come with me!"

Whisking him up the stairs of his house, Mia ripped Mythos from his mothers arms and took him to the roof.

"What happend! I saw a giant ball of Fire go off on the mountain! What happend?"

Mythos looked away unable to meet her eyes.

"The fact that my magic is gone... it's not only emotionally devestating.." Mythos thouhgt. "But as of now... I've no way of defending myself... Lizhin can kill me or my family at any moment... And I'm... powerless."

"Heeeyyyy!" Mia yelled retracting her fur. She removed the thick are around her breasts nearly exposing her nipples, that were ripe like melons ready to burst.

Mythos looked away and started walking to the end of the village.

"My family... My son... He has to be at least seventeen by now... I had forgotten... Forgotten my own family!" He thought. "Kara! What have I done my wife!"

"This is bad..." Mia thought. "He's completely dead inside... he isn't even responding to me being fully naked right now... Whatever happend between him and Lizhin is bad... I have to do something!"

"Listen Mythos!" Mia cried. "I don't know what happend between you and Lizhin but your Zalzi contest is coming up! You have to stay strong!" She said hugging him.

She embrace him as tightly as she could, filling him with warmth.

"You think you can ease my mind?" Mythos said. "With a hug and some kind words? Do you have any idea what I've been through!" He cried.

"Mythos... It's ok you can-"

Mythos knocked her hand away and walked off.

"You think you can comfort me?" He said sorrowfully. "Your just a child! You can't do anything for me! Leave me alone!"

As Mythos's words hit Mia, she fell back.

"A child..." She said. "Mythos.. but your just a"

"Don't say another word!" Mythos said. "I will deal with this as I always have! Alone! Now leave! You useless bitch!"

Mia stormed off of the room in tears.

"No one has ever talked to me like that!" She thought. "And a ten year old said that... I really must be... useless..."

As Mythos stood on the roof alone, a kid who was the same age as him sat beside him.

It was a girl no more than ten years old with a horn in the center of her head. As she plopped down next to him her pink her landed softly onto her shoulders as she turned to Mythos.

"Don't talk to me" Mythos said drying his tears. "I don't need any words from you!"

"I'm not going to say anything..." She said holding his hand. "I'm just going to stay with you here, silently."

"Why!" Mythos screamed "You don't even know who I am! You stupid kid!"

"Since when do I have to know someone to listen to them? I'm not here to help, I'm here to listen" She said.

"Well your going to be here a while!" Mythos said. "The only sound your going to hear is the rain!"

"That's fine" She said holding his hand. "Then lets listen to the rain together"

The girl sat beside Mythos for almost an hour without saying a single word. As the hour past, the sky cleared up and the rain began to stop.

As Mythos dried his eyes he looked back at the girl amazed she was still there.

She smiled at him, with an innocence that was so pure, Mythos couldn't help but smile back.

"The Priests say storms are caused by people here on the ground and that the ancestors make the winds hear listen to peoples hearts. When the hearts become angry or fearful, storms come out until that fear has passed. Mythos..." She said touching his heart.

"Has the storm in your heart ended?"

Mythos nodded his head.

"I... I think so..."

"Then smile and be happy! And remember when the next storm comes, it too will pass"

Placing his hand on his lap the little girl got up and walked away.

"Wait!" Mythos yelled. "You didn't tell me your name!"

"It's Cheeks!" THe little girl said.

"Cheeks...." Mythos said. "That doesn't sound like a feral name?"

"Well my real name is Keezheekoni... but everyone calls me Cheeks!" She laughed.

"Why is that?" Mythos said.

"Because of my big smile! They say my cheeks are very rosy!" She said smiling.

"Dear Gods! She is going to have a hard time when she is an adult!" Mythos laughed to himself.

"Hmmm whats so funny!" She said putting her hands on her hips.

"Haha its nothing" Mythos said.

"Meany!" Cheeks said chasing him. "Whats your name!"

"Catch me and I'll tell you!" Mythos said laughing.

The two ran around the roof chasing each other.

"Redface" Mythos's mother said to him. "Lets wait until tomorrow... for now let him play with his new friend!"

"My thoughts exactly" Redface said.

"Come inside kids! I'll make you dinner! You don't want to catch a cold! I'll have to call the doctor!"

Mythos's heart raced as his eyes jumped out of his head.

"COMING!" He screamed running into the house.

"Hey! I haven't caught you yet!" Cheeks said running after him.

(Deep somewhere in the Mountains)

"You said, he didn't do any incantations?" Lizhin said to one of his men.

"Yes! He was just like Wind magic! And then a whole tornado hit the guy! We still haven't found him!" The red haired Feral said to Lizhin.

"Oh great wind that flows from the heavens, pass through this earth and free the air from its restraints! Holy Circle of Magic Order 3! Wind Magic! Aeroblast!"

A torrent of Wind left Lizhins fingers and blew out of his hand like a cannon shot. It traveled some distanc ebefore dissapating.

"So... how did I do? How close was I to him?"

"Well... lets just say if your attack was a cannonbolt... His attack was... a hundred of them." The feral answered

"I see..." Lizhin said. "So the amount of essence or as this book calls it Mana isn't directly proportional to the strength of the attack...Magic is trickier than I thought!"

"It won't be long Mythos..." Lizhin said. "At this rate I'll become as powerful as you in the next year! At that time I will release you my curse and challenge you! Removing you from this world!
