Chapter 9 - Michail's future.

Yena looked straight into Helena's eyes and replied "No you may not, I do not welcome members of the council into my house."

Helena was shocked so did the other initiates following Ritchie and Muriel. Not many people denied the council. Muriel suddenly walked close to the gate and spoke in a low tone "We are here to talk to you about Michail. There might be complications arising from his assessment. We need you to let us in and talk with you so that the situation does not escalate. He may be in danger."

The moment Muriel said danger, Yena's eyes widened. She opened the gate and gestured them to enter. Ritchie wheeled himself forward while saying "Helena, tell the initiates to patrol the surroundings. We will be back in a while."

Michail was getting ready to go to Argot school, and Granny Mariam was in bed taking her morning nap.

"What do you mean when you say my son is in danger?" Yena's question rang in both the caretakers ears.

Muriel thought on how to diplomatically talk to her without revealing the information of green aura. "Mrs Yena, your son is a special talent that we have not seen in a hundred years. We hope to keep him safe and provide him the knowledge for growth. We came here to personally invite him to the academy."

"What do you mean by special talent. He has only two striations in his ring. That is mediocre talent at best as per the council regulations. I have no interest on sending him to the academy of the council. I will send him to any other private academy which teaches magic."

Muriel was unsure why the woman was so defensive. Normally when given such good opportunities any parent will take without hesitation.

Ritchie was looking around and never said anything. He saw a photograph at the far end of the table. A photo of a happy man and woman in wedding dress. The photo has not been maintained, it was yellowing and the frame has been broken at places. Yet Ritchie did not see anything in the house that a grown man uses.

Ritchie with a deep tone said "You have lost your husband, haven't you? I am sorry for your loss. I understand your frustration and anger may have arose from the fact that the council may have been involved in some way. But what we say about your son is not untrue. He will come to danger unknown if he is not properly groomed." The moment he saw Michail coming out from his room, Ritchie called out to him.

"Silencium Vide" Ritchie muttered. The string of magic around him fluctuated creating a thin box that enveloped the four of them. "What we are about to show you should not be revealed. Muriel, show her."

"Vultus ostiende" Muriel removed the altered appearance of the ring.

Yena was bewildered. "I don't understand. What does this mean."

"Vultus Mutatio" The ring changed its appearance yet again to blue as Muriel routed her magic.

Ritche bellowed in a low voice "We have no idea either Mrs Yena. But if this spreads, he will face people with ill intentions. People who want to study him, experiment on him and even eliminate him. All I know is that the only person who can protect him is the hall master of Runes."

Muriel added on "We have kept a gag on all those who saw his green ring. We mean well Mrs Yena and we may be your sons only chance."

Yena looked worriedly at Michail who was standing without saying anything. She was thinking of many options including one to run away with Michail. But how far can she run. Even though she had negative feelings for the council she knew the council never harmed any innocents. She may be putting Michail in more danger if they run.

Finally he replied "Mom, I don't think they are bad people. I feel like this is my calling. No matter what I will come back to you."

Yena had tears in her eyes. She hugged Michail and said "Be strong, don't bully anyone and don't let anyone bully you. Go pack your stuff."

"Miss Yena, you don't have to be anxious. Once we discuss with the hall master he will be back before you know it." Muriel assured her.

Michail came back with a small backpack. Muriel held his shoulder and said "Come, the council academy is the best place to learn magic and warrior arts you are in for a surprise when you see it for the first time."

He looked back as he started walking towards the exit and saw his Grammy and his mother looking back at him. "Good luck young'un, burp".

Michail waved his hands and entered the carriage in the middle that Muriel and Ritchie got into. Helena and the other initiates who followed got into the other two carriages on the sides.
