Chapter 2 - Hawking: Who I am.

I was born a simple man you may say. I would like to think my black hair and hazel eyes never stood out. But, regardless, I once again find myself in a position I should not be in. And I wish I had done more. My name is Jameson Hawking, and I wish this who situation weren't my fault, but I am no liar. Not to others and lest not myself.

I wasn't much of talent, I could drive fine, no major accidents I would say. I could carry my fair load, but I never found much skill in much, though I could say, people trust in me far too easily.

Any time I look for a job, I could always find employ, could be the smile or my rather... stocky build, or my sun touched skin, could be the wave, but every time, they would trust me with so much, always overwhelming, I would always put on an effort, but eventually quit out before I lead to trouble. I could put on a smile and tough it out, were I ever wrong.

Now you could say I am a bit of a wanderer, I never kept to a place to long you could say. Well, at least not before.... let's get onto that!

Having had a taste of every job a man could get, back on land, I suppose. Well, any job that didn't need hard credentials and didn't tie a man down too hard. Been a driver, mover, shop keeper, even did a little modeling and acting, nothing major, and I never felt more out of my element to play something I was not, though... it still felt oddly telling of my life.

I was contemplating going into the military, give me something to do, navy or airforce sounded a bit more ... my speed, I suppose, instead of something that was more in your face like the army, but there is no way to get started out the gate without ever having flown or been on a bost proper.

Normally, I considered being part of the crew, but I saved up enough money to take a nice cruise and see how I enjoyed being on the water. Didn't have the usual... worries or stress. But, mayhap I should have considered twice.

After a drink or 5, you don't really notice when you focus more on the talk how many times a bartender keeps the drinks full, but at some point during the merriment, I musta gotten the liking of the captain at some point, and, perhaps in our, less then sharp minds, he thought to give me a tour of the helm of the ship. Heck, he had such utter confidence, he let me have a hand behind the wheel!

The next few moments, I couldn't do proper justice to describe, but to defend my accord, I will do my best to recount events. While behind the wheel, keeping it steady, the captain seemed to relax a bit too much, I think he nearly blacked out, barely to his feet and before we knew it, a harsh wave hit, and what seemed unreal, a storm blew in, and blew hard.

Before my hands had time to leave the wheel, before they had times to change course, or drop the anchor, the ship, the massive ship started to rock and shake, and poor dear captain, his head must knocked against something hard, as I watched his limp body against the floor, and I was busy, doing my best to steady the ship to check if he was alive.

The ship rocked, too and fro, I had very loose control, the shaking did it's best to sober me and the other men on the helm, very few if I could recall, did what they could to salvage the situation, I don't right recall what, my focus was on my battle with the sea, the ship was my blade. I tried to carve and I dare say I pulled the worst of us out of the storm! I thought I even saw sun for a moment. Had I not been panicking, I might recalled that storms like these, they harbor an eye.

The last fading moments I could recall, was a violent crack, that shook the earth around me, and finding myself drenched.
