Even if Sir doesn't know the amount of Radiant Stone required, he surely wants more. Therefore, he is not in a hurry to enter the swamp, but must stay behind, at least to gather the Radiant Stone here:

Understanding this, Shard decided not to tackle the Keeper of Secrets' test before him, because clearly Sir Plisha had already reached the final ring, and he was just starting, unable to catch up anymore:
"Since the Keeper of Secrets is still here, it means the test is at least not over!"
Thinking this, Shard tried to summon rage within and stood beside the cardboard house, covering his face with both hands.
