Chapter 2 - Introduction

Have you ever been cursed?

Have you ever believed you were cursed?

How would you even know if you've been cursed?

These suspicions have been plaguing a small town for generations. Anyone that attempts to figure these aspects out unexpectedly vanishes. It retains everyone frightened and obeying the tradition of the festival that occurs every year. Everyone in the town does not comprehend why anyone would participate in the annual festival anymore or actually what it represents. Nobody in the town ever attempts to leave anymore. Not a soul ever dares to arrive at this town more or less settle down in it. The townspeople have known each other for ages dating back as distant as the foundation of the town. Every structure has gorgeous victorian architecture as if it was straight out of a film. The welcome sign is set on a handmade wooden stake. The sign is made out of a maple tree painted dark blue with the white letters Welcome to North Hill with sunflowers carved out on both viewpoints. All businesses are family-owned and operated. North Hill is a self-sufficient tiny town most folks don't know exists.

This year's festival left an eerie emotion in everyone's minds. Not a sole person dared to discuss it, however. When you rode by the ancient estate in town you could listen to activity for the first time in years going on someplace out of sight behind its gates. You also saw construction personnel come and go from the entrance, but never go into town. Curious children would stand by the gates and attempt to glimpse what's going on, but for not. You could not discern the estate from the gate, just a concrete driveway with cherry blossom trees lining its borders to the tip of the hill. The grounds you could glimpse from the gate are always stunning with multicolored flowers and brushes throughout. You could behold Japanese maple trees and the lush lawn flawlessly cut. It gave birth to the vastly beautiful property. Nobody has seen any activity behind those entance gates for centuries until the gates unlocked two days ago for a construction crew to go in. Not soon after the flyer materialized all over town.

The entrances have polished golden letters inscribed in an archway over the top of the black gate that reads "The Castle".
