Forest went back to Viridian Forest very early.
He and Igna retraced their steps and made their way back to the cave.
All of the Pokemon that were there yesterday were still there.
He saw the Ratatta that led him here look at him excitedly.
"Ratatta!" It said while looking at his bag.
Forest smiled put down his bag and brought out some berries.
He and Igna had gathered many berries to share with all of the Pokemon in the cave, as they did with the Pokemon in the outskirts of the forest.
All of the Pokemon were very happy but Forest noticed one was missing. He went over to Ratatta and asked "Hey, where is Houndour?"
The Ratatta turned and gestured over to a corner. "Ratatta."
"Thanks." He said
He walked over to the corner and saw Houndour resting.
"Hey Houndour, you hungry?" Forest said as he put a few berries in front of Houndour
It opened its eyes and didn't even look at the berries. It just stared at Forest with the same look as it did the day before.
Forest frowned slightly 'Hmm, does he not like me?' Forest thought. He didn't remember doing anything wrong.
After a few moments, the Houndour pulled a berry closer to him with his paw and chomped the berry.
Forest smiled. "Is it good?"
"Dour." It said, though it sounded like a bark
"Haha, that's good." Forest said
He wanted to catch the Houndour, but he didn't really know what to say.
Does he just go up and say 'Hey I want you to be my partner!! Let me catch you!' or something?
"Say, Houndour. Have you ever thought about having a trainer?" Forest said
Houndour didn't say anything but his ears perked up, showing that he was listening.
'He didn't immediately decline, I guess that's good.' Forest let out a sigh of relief
"Well, I think that if we were to be partners, we could both be stronger you see. I could give you food and shelter and make you stronger." Forest went on
"And in return, you can help me, and we can become the strongest!"
Houndour seemed to be moved by his statement of becoming the strongest.
Houndour stood up and looked at Forest.
"Dour, Houndour!" He said with fighting spirit emanating off of him
"Do you want to battle?"
"Dour!" He confirmed
"Igna, let's go outside, we're battling" Forest said
Igna's eyes lit up at the word of battling, he ran outside and got ready.
The Pokemon in the cave looked worried. Weren't they just eating together, why are they fighting?
Forest alleviated their fears by saying that they weren't battling for real.
Although he said that, they still were worried.
"Houndour, are you ready?"
"Dour!" It said confidently
"Igna, buddy, are you ready?"
"Char!" He said excitedly
A couple of tense seconds went by before Forest led it off.
"Igna, get as close as you can and let off a [Thunder Punch!]"
'Man, I should really have him learn a ranged attack, it's not to my advantage to make him get close each time.' Forest thought
Igna ran towards Houndour, but Houndour wasn't idle either, it sent a spinning fire attack towards Igna.
"Dodge it!" Forest knew he didn't have to say that, as Igna would already try to dodge by himself, but he didn't want to sit there not doing anything.
Igna slightly got hit by the attack but brushed it off.
"You ok Igna?" Forest asked
"Char!" He responded
"Alright buddy, use the {Ground Attack!}"
Igna then used Fire Punch on the ground in Houndour's direction.
After the first time they used that move against the Bellsprout, they continued to use it and even gave it a name to make it easier to announce in battle.
Houndour couldn't see much, but suddenly he felt danger to his left and tried to dodge, but it was too late.
*BAM*
The attack hit directly, it did a lot of damage as well.
Houndour was still standing and tried to let out another fire attack, but sparks were coming off of him.
'He's paralyzed! Now!'
Forest threw his Pokeball and hit Houndour on the forehead.
He went into the ball, and it shook 1 time. 2 times. 3.
*DING!*
'Gotcha!'
