The droplets of blood that the Valken family's guards had found proved that Detrim had been shot with that silver bullet.
Only a silver bullet would explain the presence of the blood found at the scene of the accident as no other injury would be serious enough for a vampire, one as strong as him, to lose his blood.
After all, Vampires had superior healing abilities which made it hard for someone to hurt them.
A cut from any ordinary blade would heal in a matter of seconds and the same could be said for any other accidental injury.
The healing time depended on the severity of the injury they sustained but it was never enough to let their blood drip and fall to the ground.
Therefore, learning that there was Detrim's blood at the scene of the accident was sufficient for the guards to conclude that there had been some foul play.
Since these guards were vampires just like the rest of the Valken family, they knew exactly what they were talking about.
This made Nita wonder if her brother was alright as a wound inflicted by silver would take longer to heal and even be immensely painful.
'For someone to prepare a special silver bullet to attack him… they must have planned this for a long time.' She fell into deep thought, mulling over the information she had received.
Bullets made of silver were rare and almost never used.
The obvious reason for this was that silver was a precious metal and no fool would use it to shoot someone, potentially wrecking the metal in the process.
Lead, antimony, copper, and zinc were the commonly used materials for the manufacturing of bullets as they were easily found and cheaper in price.
This reminder only strengthened Nita's conviction that her brother had fallen prey to a premeditated murder attempt.
'But who exactly would do something like that?' She frowned as her earlier question had not yet been answered.
The few times that the siblings had spoken in the past, her brother had only given her updates about their family before inquiring about how she had been living.
He never went into any details about how his life was nor did he share any of his troubles with her.
Therefore, Nita had no clue if there was someone who had a motive for trying to harm him.
Since humans were clueless about the existence of other races living in their midst, it was more likely that another creature of the night had been involved in this incident.
While silver was harmful to all creatures of the night, the pain it inflicted varied based on the race one belonged to.
Keeping this in mind, Nita could not strike out the possibility that it was someone who knew of Detrim's true identity and had attacked him for a reason that she had yet to discover.
Uri Valken, the patriarch of the Valken family, caught the serious gaze on his child's face which made it seem that she was lost in deep thought.
However, he had to break her line of thought as there was something that he needed to say to her.
"Child, we have a few who might have a motive to harm your brother." He disclosed the information he had obtained from various sources.
The guards of their family, Assistant Milo Gavin, and even the local police authorities had been working together to solve the mysterious disappearance of the CEO of Valken Industries.
Except for the guards, the rest involved in this case were unaware of Detrim's true identity.
Thus they were treating this as just another kidnapping case of a high-profile personality.
The police had been trying to figure out if there were people who might have a grudge against him which could fuel their desire to harm him.
Assistant Milo was also doing his part by looking into any suspicious behavior from their business rivals or even partners.
The guards, on the other hand, were actively trying to collect information from other creatures of the night they were acquainted with to see if they had heard some chatter on the streets.
Detrim had vanished from that abandoned route as though he had never entered it so Uri and the rest of his family were suspecting another creature of the night's involvement in this case.
Therefore, they had been doing their investigation separately but cooperating with the police whenever they were asked to.
Through these three sources, Uri had gathered a list of people who would have something to gain from Detrim's disappearance or in the worst case, his death.
Nita's impatient eyes were now fixed on her father, waiting for him to give her some names but he seemed to have not understood her haste.
"I will look into the other creatures but I need your assistance for something else." He finally spoke up, gaining a nod from her.
The reason she had come back to this place was to help them find her brother so she was willing to help in whatever way she could.
"Your mother is unwell so I will not be able to go to the office any time soon." He declared, hinting at what he wanted from her and was sure that she had grasped his intentions.
Nita's reddish-pink eyes trembled when she heard about the health of her mother.
If Detrim was the first reason for her hasty return to Teluson then her mother's deteriorating health was the second.
She did miss her family in the previous years that she had been away and during that time, it was her mother who had come to visit her a few times in secret.
Her mother was her best friend while growing up and she loved her more than anyone else in this wide world.
Therefore, when she heard that her mother had fallen ill after hearing about Detrim's disappearance, Nita had hurried back to the country to lend her support in whatever way she could.
The old man's lips curved into a slight smile when he saw the worry visible on his daughter's face.
She had grown so much in the few years that they had been living in different countries but one thing had never changed.
To Nita, her mother was her top priority and the entire family felt the same way as well.
'I hope she feels better now that you are here.' He sighed while thinking of his wife who might be resting around this time.
