As soon as Blake returned, the first thing Lyra did was hug him. The desperation and fear she had felt a moment ago seemed to disappear in his arms. It was like only he existed for her. And this was what her other mates saw.
Victor left the place so as not to do or say anything he would later regret. While others remained silent, they sent gazes filled with envy and hatred towards the pair. Noticing this shift in mood, Blake tactfully took his mate to his room. What they couldn't see would hopefully not hurt them. He could have let his mate know about the situation in a subtle way, and she would have understood it and reacted accordingly by putting distance between them and focusing her attention on her other mates, but he didn't do it.
