Chapter 23 - Daylight Savings

(Open POV)

Townsville…

There is the city skyline at night. A crescent moon hangs over the city.

"The city of Townsville…" The narrator said, while he pulls back slowly as he continues. "…a city where villainy exists 24/7. But don't be alarmed, for the Powerpuff Girls always spring into action."

An enormous pink creature, with a single horn on its head and accordion-like arms that end in square claws, rears up and roars. It begins to stomp down the street, tearing holes in the buildings. Blossom is in flight; the monster stops short upon her arrival. She deals it a quick string of crushing blows, and it falls to the pavement in slow motion.

"Face it." The narrator said, looking at a nearby clock shop. "These girls will clean their clocks."

On the end of this line, a clock hangs over the street corner.

Jewelry store…

Its front window has been smashed; an alarm screams through the night, and a masked robber flees the scene. He carries a bag of loot in one hand and fires a gun behind himself with the other. Buttercup dives in, ready for a flying kick, and lets him have it in spades. He collapses to the ground, with his left arm extended ahead of himself so that he can see his wristwatch.

"Watch as they wind up the crime every time!" The narrator cheered, looking at the robber's wrist watch.

Barnyard…

A few cows are grazing contentedly. A flying saucer hovers above them. After a moment, an alien creature materializes on the ground; it looks very much like a fugitive from a bad sci-fi movie—short, huge head, bulging eyes, and the like. It holds a device of some sort in one hand. One of the cows takes sudden notice of the new arrival and starts running across the yard, with the alien close behind. The device is pointed at the animal's hindquarters—a probe perhaps. Bubbles arrives on the scene and has no trouble beating the alien into submission; her last blow, a flying uppercut, propels it straight up to crash through the underside of the saucer. She grabs the edge of this and hurls it like a discus, sending it over a clock tower and out of sight.

Townsville…

On the next line, at the base of the tower, Blossom and Buttercup stand in front of it, and Bubbles joins them.

"It's a lucky stroke for us that these are no secondhand heroines that keep our city safe…" The narrator said, while the girls take off across the city. "…deep into the night and into the wee hours of the morning."

The sky begins to lighten behind them-daybreak is coming.

"And on a school night, even." The narrator said, happily.

The girls fly away.

Exterior of Pokey Oaks Kindergarten…

The girls fly into the school.

"Speaking of school…" The narrator said.

Pokey Oaks Kindergarten…

Ms. Keane is at the front of the classroom; she is teaching a bit of picture recognition. Next to her is an easel with a picture of a ball.

"Class, can you tell me what this is a picture of?" Ms. Keane asked.

"Ball!" The class said, at the same time.

"Very good!" Ms. Keane said, removing the picture, exposing a picture of the Talking Dog. "And this is a…"

"Dog!" The class said, at the same time.

"Very good." Ms. Keane said, smiling.

The next picture Ms. Keane shows is one of a combustion engine. Various parts are labeled.

"And this is a…" Ms. Keane said, holding the picture.

"A four-stroke internal combustion engine!" The class said, at the same time.

"Very good." Ms. Keane said, now showing a saw cutting through a log. "And this is a, is…is a…"

The sound of snoring is Ms. Keane's reason for trailing off, and she looks around herself in puzzlement to try to find its source. The bell, the hotline, the pencil sharpener, the butt of a fat kid, Twiggy the hamster—none of them are causing the interruption. The girls are at their desk, they are fast asleep and sawing toothpicks, with their heads down.

Ms. Keane regards them in surprise for a moment before grimacing and reaching for a book on the shelf. This slams flat onto the desk, startling them out of their nap in an instant. Each blurts out a random fact in hopes of being right on her last question.

"George Washington!" Bubbles cried.

"Pi R-squared!" Blossom said, angrily.

"Borscht!" Buttercup chirped.

Everybody but a visibly irritated Ms. Keane laughs at them, but stop when she speaks.

"It's nice of you to join us, girls. This is the third time this week you've fallen asleep in class." Ms. Keane said, dryly.

The girls look and sound very groggy.

"We're sorry, Ms. Keane. We can't help it." Blossom said, sadly.

"We wouldn't be so tired if we weren't out every single night…" Bubbles said, frowning.

"Keeping Townsville safe from crime for you and its citizens." Buttercup said.

"Hmm…Yes. Well, that—that's true. I did forget that part." Ms. Keane said, sternly. "But that does not excuse you from your responsibilities at school."

"You're right." Bubbles said, while she goes face first on the desk.

"We're sorry." Buttercup said, as she does likewise.

"It'll never happen again." Blossom said, and she went face first on the desk.

All three girls begin to snore again; Ms. Keane eyes them warily.

"No, it won't. It certainly won't." Ms. Keane said, to herself, levelly.

(Jared's POV)

Exterior of Utonium Residence…

That afternoon, the girls float down to the front door.

"Later that day…" The narrator said.

The Professor and I meet the girls at the step.

"Oh, hello, girls. Home from school soOOOOOOO…" The Professor said, recoiling as if seeing some unimaginable horror.

"Son of a bitch!" I said, looking down at a piece of paper.

"JUMPIN' JEHOSAPHAT! WHAT THE HECK IS THAT?!" The Professor exclaimed.

The Professor points down and I looked down on the end of this line, and I looked down at cause of our terror—a note pinned to Blossom's dress. It is nearly as big as she is.

"You knew?" The Professor asked, with shaking hands, he lifts it for a closer look. "Since when?"

"Since forever." I said, sadly. "I knew it was coming. I forgot when. Time got the best of me. Oops."

"'Parent-teacher conference'?!" The Professor exclaimed, reading the note.

The Professor looked up into the sky.

"Yeah…" I said, frowning.

"NOOOOO!!!" The Professor yelled, his voice echoing.

(Open POV)

Townsville…

As the Professor screams the word 'No!', the following sequence of shots is seen: a horse Neighing and rearing up, a wave crashing over the dock, a lightning strike, a can of soda being opened and spewing its contents, and a golf ball rolling past the hole on a putting green.

(Jared's POV)

Outside Pokey Oaks Kindergarten..

The Professor and I are sitting outside a door marked 'MS. KEANE'—her classroom—as the scientist finally quiets down.

"Why didn't you stop this from happening?" The Professor asked, looking very nervous and uneasy, and his mood was not helped by the sound of hysterical crying from inside. "The girls ending up in trouble."

"I tried convincing them with video games and cartoons. It wasn't enough." I said, looking down at the ground.

The door opens to admit a sobbing woman and her husband; they stumble away, and a beaming teacher pokes her head out.

"You're next, Professor, Jared." Ms. Keane said, happily.

The Professor swallowed hard and I grabbed the strap of my sling bag.

Pokey Oaks Kindergarten….

Ms. Keane walks across the room, clipboard in hand, and the Professor and I follows. Now the Professor is doing his best to smile cheerfully. And I am standing next to the child-sized seat. We stop at one of the children's desks. It has two chairs—one adult-sized, one child-sized—at opposite ends. Ms. Keane sits in the former; the Professor stands nervously by the latter.

"Please. Have a seat." Ms. Keane said, gesturing at a small chair.

The Professor does so, and Ms. Keane begins to write on her clipboard.

The Professor moves his leg and bumps the desk, "Oop. Ah, sorry."

The Professor sets it back in place and laughs nervously; Ms. Keane only nods and smiles. Now Ms. Keane goes back to her writing.

"So, your foreknowledge couldn't have prevented this." The Professor said, looking at Ms. Keane and back at her writing.

"Nope." I said, while the Professor's smile gave way to a more anxious expression several seconds after I looked at him. "I wish I could have."

Ms. Keane underlines a piece of writing four times, after which I see the Professor drumming his hands on his knees. She continues writing, her polite little smile never leaving her face and her eyes never meeting the Professor's eyes and my eyes.

"That's not good." The Professor said, as he is much less composed, though, and sweat starts to pour from his forehead as his eyes dart back and forth. "Why couldn't you have stopped the girls?"

Ms. Keane jots down one more thing before finally looking up from the board and speaking—it has been just over forty seconds since she sat down. The Professor reacts to her voice as if it were a live electrical wire in his hand.

"Well…" Ms. Keane said, sadly.

"We didn't do it!" The Professor said, falling over backward, then props himself up. "Uh… Um, you needed to speak to me and Jared about the girls?"

"Yes, Professor, Jared. I'm very concerned. They've been falling asleep in class, and their participation is slipping." Ms. Keane said, frowning.

"Well, what do you suppose the reason is, Ms. Keane?" The Professor asked.

"I believe all of this late-night crime-fighting is to blame."

"Well, they are superheroes, you know, and saving the world's a big responsibility."

"And the juicy stuff for crime fighting doesn't start until 9 PM." I said, smiling. "The girls need to be around for that."

"But education is a bigger responsibility." Ms. Keane said, looking between the Professor and I. "Jared, you told me that it took you years to learn what is best for your education. What about the girls?"

"That is true. They need to figure it out sooner than me. They do need to focus on their education. Their real life can't mix with their crime fighting life too much."

"Yup, that am true, Ms. Keane…" The Professor said, smiling, with a cowboy twang. He then became serious again. "…but what do you propose?"

"Well, I suggest you and Jared set…" Ms Keane said, her face hardening. "…a curfew."

Girls' bedroom…

The girls are in their bedroom, looking up at the Professor and I with shocked expressions.

"A curfew?! But, Professor…" The girls said, at the same time. "Jared…"

The Professor and I are in the room with them; through the windows, it is now dusk.

"No buts, girls. From now on, you're to be home by 7:30." The Professor said, sadly.

"7:30?!" The girls exclaimed, at the same time.

"But the juicy stuff doesn't even start until at least 9:00!" Buttercup said, angrily.

"I know it doesn't. I told Ms. Keane that, Buttercup. But she still wasn't happy." I said, sadly. "Maybe I can go out there with Team RWBY."

"You're not going out there with them. Townsville is our turf."

"7:30 isn't as dark as 9:00, though." Bubbles said, frowning.

Buttercup glares at Bubbles and I.

The hotline goes off, and the girls brace for action.

"The hotline! Professor, Jared, we gotta go!" Blossom yelled.

The girls take off, but the Professor blocks their path.

"Girls, don't forget—7:30." The Professor said, sternly.

"We won't." The girls said, floating sullenly, past him.

I took out my iPhone 16 Pro Max and called Yang Xiao Long, "Yang?"

"What's up?" Yang asked, her voice coming out of my phone.

"Boba." I said, looking down at the floor.

"When are you?"

"Daylight Savings?"

"Ooo. You had us watch this episode with you on the TARDIS at one point. It's the one where the Powerpuff Girls have to be back home early."

"Yeah. I was wondering if you, Weiss, Blake, and Ruby can come here."

"And beat up bad guys with you while the girls are cooped up inside the house? Okay. When should we be here?"

(Open POV)

Townsville…

The city skyline, which appears very much at ease—but not for long. Mojo Jojo floats up into view, holding a blaster and using a craft that consists of a glass-and-metal bubble with holes cut in it for his arms and legs. A propeller on top keeps him aloft. He flies over the city, firing shots in all directions; whatever happens to be in the path of the beam gets a neat hole cut all the way through it. One-shot takes out a store window and reveals a stunned deli clerk running out his store. Mojo now lands and lets loose with another barrage as people run in all directions; it is a total panic as Mojo has his way with Townsville.

The Narrator screams in terror, "Mojo Jojo is turning Townsville into 'Swiss' cheese!"

A man points into the sky, "Look 'sharp', everyone! It's the Powerpuff Girls, here to save us!"

The Powerpuff Girls move in.

"You said it, 'Jack'! It'll be a 'bries' for our girls to 'cream' that 'muenster' Mojo." The narrator said, happily. "Things aren't looking too 'gouda' for you, Mojo, so leave that 'Prov Alone' and prepare to be 'shredded'!"

Mojo takes off, his blaster at the ready. He and the girls charge toward a head-on confrontation; by the end of the block, they approach each other. Before they meet, though, they get interrupted by the Professor.

Outside Utonium Residence…

The Professor is at the front door of the house. He has his hand cupped to his mouth.

"Girls, it's 7:30!!!" The Professor yelled.

Townsville…

The girls looked at each other then at Mojo.

"It's time to come in now!!!" The Professor said, angrily.

The girls hang their heads and moan.

"Sorry, Mojo, but we've gotta go now." Blossom said, letting out a sigh.

"We've got school in the morning." Bubbles said, sadly.

"Yeah. We've got to be in bed by 7:30." Buttercup said, frowning.

"Girls!!!" The Professor cried, nearby.

"Coming, Professor." The girls said, wearily.

The Powerpuff Girls take off.

"Now what will happen to Townsville without its heroes to protect it?" The narrator asked, while Mojo's eyes narrow, a clear indication of an evil plan brewing in his mind at this turn of events in his favor, and for the criminals and villains of Townsville. "Oh, I 'Camembert' to watch!"

(Jared's POV)

Living room…

I am sitting down on the couch and Team RWBY appears in a flash of light.

"Oh, I am so glad to see you girls." I said, running up to Team RWBY for a group hug.

"How bad is it?" Blake asked.

"And where are the Powerpuff Girls?" Weiss asked.

"They're in bed." I said, sadly.

"Okay. What do we have to do?" Ruby asked.

"We protect Townsville the best that we can until 6:41 PM."

"That shouldn't be too hard." Yang said, smirking.

"We have dealt with worse." Weiss said.

"Not to the extent of a Crime City, USA." Blake said, holding her Gambol Shroud.

"Rainbow Defenders. Move out." I said, walking out of the front door with Team RWBY. "We might have to make it there before the villains."

(Open POV)

Girls' bedroom…

The girls are now dressed for bed and tucked in. They do not look happy.

"But…" The girls said, at the same time.

The Professor stands by the bed, "No buts, girls. You've got school in the morning, and you need your rest."

"But what about Townsville?" Blossom asked, looking at one of the bedroom windows, in which the city is visible.

The Professor leans into view next to it and smiles calmly.

"Townsville's fine." The Professor said, framing window in his hands. "Oh, just look at it— so quiet, so peaceful."

The Professor turns away from the window; the instant he does, the skyline erupts in flames, and distant screams and sirens make themselves heard.

(Jared's POV)

Townsville…

"Why is the city on fire?!" Weiss exclaimed.

"Because the girls aren't around to protect it from crime!" Blake said, worried.

"This is much harder than it looks!" Ruby cried.

"Sorry." I said, in my ghost form, shooting ghost rays.

(Open POV)

Girls' bedroom…

However, the Professor is completely oblivious to the new crisis.

"Thanks to you, Townsville's as safe as safe can be." The Professor said, happily.

The girls have been watching with their hands to their mouths in horror.

"So you shut those sleepy eyes and…" The Professor said, walking across the bedroom to the door. "…hop aboard the Dreamland Express."

"But…" The girls said, at the same time.

The Professor is now at the door.

"Hop aboard the Dreamland Express!" The Professor said, angrily.

The girls instantly close their eyes, and the Professor smiles.

"That's better." The Professor said, turning off the lights, blacking out the room. "Good night, girls."

The Professor shuts the door.

The girls, now visible in the light from the windows, are wide awake and very dissatisfied and unhappy about their current situation. The Professor's footsteps die away in the hall outside, after which more footsteps—many more, and large ones—approach the general area.

"You hear that?" Blossom asked.

They zip over to the windows; and the girls look outside the house at second-floor level. One girl pops up at each window.

Outside Utonium Residence…

At street level, the footsteps grow louder. After a few seconds, a procession of unsavory characters of all sorts marches across the screen. Mojo has a baton in hand and is acting as the drum major. The following are also part of the parade: the Gangreen Gang, Fuzzy Lumpkins, the Amoeba Boys, Mr. Mime, and Princess Morebucks—wearing a royal cape whose train is being held up by a prisoner. Various criminals, prisoners, and an enormous reptilian creature whose steps shake the camera make up the rest of the group.

Girls' bedroom…

The girls are still looking out their bedroom windows.

"Oh, no! It's…" Buttercup said, her eyes widening.

"A parade!" Bubbles said, happily.

"Not just any parade, Bubbles, but a parade of villains. And it's marching straight into Townsville!" Blossom said, turning away from her window.

The commotion dies away over the next few lines.

"Professor!!" Blossom said, worried.

Utonium Residence…

The Professor is descending the stairs, "Go to bed, girls!"

Girls' bedroom…

"Oh, this makes me sick to my stomach." Buttercup said, looking at Blossom. "What are we gonna do?!"

"There's nothing we can do…" Blossom said, as she and Buttercup float to the bed; Bubbles stays at her window. "…except try to go to sleep and hope that Townsville is still there in the morning. Let's hope Jared is out there with Team RWBY protecting the city for us."

"That's it? The parade's over?" Bubbles asked, turning away from the window. "Where's the floats? Where's the giant 3-D cartoon character endorsement balloons?"

At the end of this, the eye of the giant reptile appears at the window. The beast roars; Bubbles manages a terrified squeal—her pigtails standing on end as they did in 'Insect Inside'—and dives under the covers, landing in her section of the bed.

"Professor!!!" The girls said, screaming.

"Go to sleep!!!!" The Professor said, from downstairs, yelling at the girls.

This shuts the girls up instantly and they sit in stunned silence for a moment after the Professor makes it clear he will uphold the curfew, no matter what.

(Jared's POV)

Townsville…

"Are you calling the Powerpuff Girls?" Ruby asked, looking over at Jared.

"I'm trying!" I said, my phone near my ear. "They're not responding!"

(Open POV)

Girls' bedroom…

The buzzing of the hotline puts smiles on the girls' faces.

Living room…

The Professor is about to settle into his favorite chair when he catches wind of it, realizing it is the last thing he needs to remove to ensure the girls obey the agreement he made with Ms. Keane and follow through on the curfew and don't disobey it.

Girls' bedroom…

Blossom has picked up the call.

"Yes, Jared?" Blossom asked, in a hushed voice. "You and Team RWBY are having trouble saving Townsville? Okay. We'll be right the…"

(Jared's POV)

Townsville…

"Blossom, the Professor's there." I said, my phone near my ear. "We're stalling the best we can. I don't know how much longer we can do it."

(Open POV)

Girls' bedroom…

A rectangle of light falls across the room, with the Professor's shadow visible within it—he is checking on them and caught them red-handed disobeying the curfew. Blossom quickly changes gears.

"Uh…" Blossom said, in a rapid fire tone. "…no, thanks. We're not interested in buying the paper. Thank you."

Outside Utonium Residence…

There are flashes of light in the bedroom windows and crackling sparks and the hotline's buzzer, ending with a snap.

Girls' bedroom…

The Professor leaves the room, with the disconnected phone in his hands. The severed cord still sparks and snaps. The girls, back in bed, watch him go in shocked silence. Their last means to save Townsville after curfew is gone, and there's nothing they can do about it.

"Good night, girls." The Professor said, satisfied.

Living room…

The Professor is relaxing by the fire. He has his feet up and the paper in his hands and he looks quite content—peace and quiet at last, and the Girls finally obeying their curfew with nothing else to prevent them from doing so and violating it in the process, going to sleep and dreaming of Townsville still standing in the morning.

"Ahhhh." The Professor said, starting to read the paper, but his face almost immediately goes slack at what he sees—a front-page photo of the burning city, with a two-word banner headline: 'TOWNSVILLE DOOMED!!'.

The paper is promptly crumpled up and thrown into the fireplace; the Professor sits frozen for a moment, chewing his lower lip, anxious about possibly going back on reinforcing the curfew suggested by Ms. Keane after seeing that front page headline of Townsville in danger without the Girls to protect it, then looks over at a radio near his elbow. He switches this on and is rewarded with a program of soft Latin music—bossa nova, perhaps. This relaxes him again.

"Ahhhh." The Professor said, happily.

An announcer breaks in, shattering his calm.

"We interrupt this program for this special bulletin." Announcer 1 said, on the radio.

"Townsville is under attack! The Black Pearl and Team RWBY aren't enough to save it!" The radio reporter said, panicked. The radio is promptly thrown into the fire. "We need the Power…"

The radio reporter trails off into unintelligible noise as if her report was being played from a phonograph record on a slowing turntable. The Professor hunches his head down between his shoulders for a moment, more anxious than ever about disobeying Ms. Keane after hearing another report of Townsville being in trouble, before coming up with a remote control. He turns the TV on with this and gets a nature program—a lion chasing an antelope. A forced, frozen grin gives way to a relaxed smile.

"Ahhhh." The Professor said, leaning back.

The Professor uses his hand to strike a match and lifts it to his pipe as a news report breaks in.

"We interrupt this program for this special report." Announcer 2 said, on TV.

On the TV screen, a reporter stands before a group of burning buildings.

"Help! Townsville's burning down…" A TV reporter said, on the TV.

The Professor's pipe shoots from his mouth in shock as he once again finds himself faced with sending the girls out past curfew by another panicked news report of the city in trouble.

"…and the Powerpuff Girls are nowhere in sight! The Black Pearl and Team RWBY are unable to save the day!" TV reporter 1 said, on the TV.

The Professor fumbles for the remote.

"Things are looking…" TV reporter 1 said, on the TV.

The Professor changes channels and hits an opera performance. This soothes him.

"Whew." The Professor said, relieved.

Another news flash. This time, two monsters are ravaging the city behind the reporter. Team RWBY and Jared are busy fighting the two monsters.

"Two monsters!" Blake said, on TV.

"Sorry!" Jared said, on TV.

"Townsville's being eaten!" TV reporter 2 said, on TV.

A channel change, another report, with flying saucers, blasting the buildings.

"Aliens?" Weiss asked, on TV.

"Why are we dealing with another alien invasion?" Yang asked, on TV.

"Ugh…" Ruby said, on TV.

"Um…" Jared said, on TV.

"Townsville's being invaded!" TV reporter 3 said, on TV.

The Professor switches channels, but only hears more reports of chaos and pleas for the Girls to save Townsville since Jared and Team RWBY aren't enough to save the day; With each change, the Professor is growing increasingly frantic.

"Rioting!…Mayhem!…Utter annihilation!…¡El muerte!" Various reporters cried, on TV.

The Professor's eyes are worried sick. The next reporter we hear is very calm, so much so that he could be mistaken for dead, given the broadcasts that have just been heard.

"Welcome to the Time Channel…" TV reporter 4 said, on TV.

The Professor is now leaning almost into the screen.

"…where we give you up-to-the-minute time, 24 hours a day." TV reporter 4 said, on TV.

The Professor relaxes, relieved at finally finding a channel not provoking him into sending the girls out past curfew.

"Up next, the current time." TV reporter 4 said, on TV.

Now the TV reporter 4 is seen on the TV screen—white button-down shirt, bow tie, square glasses, hair in a pompadour - think Johnny Bravo. Next to him is a graphic: a white box with the word 'TIME' on it in black letters.

"Hello. I'm Sonny Dial, here to bring you the latest time. But first, I hope all of you remembered that last night was Daylight Savings, which means everyone sets their clocks back by one hour. That makes our current time 6:41." TV reporter said, on TV. Inside the box, 'TIME' dissolves to this. "I'll be back at 6:42 with the up-to-the-minute time."

This bit of news hits the Professor like a baseball bat to the head as his face is now frozen in dumbfounded shock at this sharp turn of events after everything he just did to either get the girls to go to sleep or ignore the danger Townsville was in without the girls to save it. The Professor then realized that Jared is out there with Team RWBY trying to save Townsville, when they're outmatched and out of their element. He anxiously looks around the room; every timepiece he sees, analog or digital, shows the time as 7:41. Even his watch is an hour off. He finally realizes that the clocks are 1 hour ahead.

"Crikey! I forgot to set the clocks back! That explains why Jared is out there trying to save the day with Team RWBY!" The Professor cried.

(Jared's POV)

Townsville…

"It's 6:41 PM!" I said, excitedly. "The Powerpuff Girls are coming in!"

"Finally!" Weiss said, angrily.

"What took them so long?" Yang asked.

"Basically, the Professor went too far with listening to Miss Keane." I said, sadly.

(Open POV)

Girls' bedroom….

With the horrible realization that he forgot to reset the clocks an hour back, the Professor kicks the door open, turns on the lights, and dashes over to the bed. However, by this point, they are fast asleep.

"Girls, wake up." The Professor said, pulling the bed covers away. "Girls, wake up!!!" He is slamming the hotline receiver in the cradle. "Buzz! Buzz! Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!" The Professor is grabbing the side of the mattress. "Get out of bed, now!"

The Professor flips the mattress, dumping the girls onto the floor and waking them up in the process, and jumps over to them.

"Daylight Savings. Clocks wrong. 45 minutes. Jared is out there with Team RWBY! They can't do it on their own! Save Townsville now!" The Professor said, frantically.

"But what about our curfew?" Blossom asked.

"No time. Go! Go! Go!" The Professor said, grabbing Blossom.

On each 'Go!', the Professor throws one girl away as hard as he can. Blossom is first, then Buttercup, and finally Bubbles. They crash through the bedroom wall.

Living room…

The Professor pants for a moment, then runs out and skids back to his chair. Picking up a fresh copy of the paper after he threw the old one into the fireplace, he is greeted by the headline 'TOWNSVILLE SAVED!!' above a photo of the restored skyline. He grabs the radio out of the fire and shakes it, and it begins to work again despite the flames licking at its housing.

"And so, in a flurry of Powerpuffery, the city of Townsville seems to be getting back to normal with Team RWBY and the Black Pearl as support." The radio reporter said.

The Professor smiles upon hearing this and leans toward the TV for more good news. He switches to the first reporter, behind whom the girls, Jared, and Team RWBY are working so fast that they appear only as light blurs, and the reporter now has a happy, relieved look on his face compared to his frantic one from earlier.

"Townsville is saved once again." TV reporter 1 said, on TV.

The Professor's eyes are mesmerized on the eyes as he switches channels. Now a look of shaken relief is on the Professor's face as every channel he turns to now report good news rather than bad news like earlier.

"A-OK. Peachy keen. Jim-dandy. Okey-dokey. ¡Muy bueno! ¡Viva la Powerpuff!" Various reporter cheered, on TV.

The Professor relaxes into his chair, glad to know all is well at last, "Ahh, them's my girls. And there's Jared saving the day with the girls he knows and loves."

"It sure is nice to have the girls to fall back on like how Jared has Team RWBY to fall back on, eh, Professor?" The narrator asked.

The background for the end shot comes up.

"And so once again the day is saved…" The narrator said.

Benjamin Franklin appears, holding a pocket watch by its chain between two fingers.

"…thanks to… …Benjamin Franklin's suggestion of setting clocks back during the winter for extra daylight to conserve economic spending on candles…" The narrator said.

Benjamin Franklin is replaced by the girls in their usual pose.

"…and the Powerpuff Girls!" The narrator cheered.

The End!

We'll see you again soon!
