Ficool

Chapter 4 - 3. Sienna

I shook the thought off. It was not worth tormenting myself for. The only thing I had to put my heart into was this moment.

"I am pretty sure the police think it's my fault." I clenched my fists just remembering what the awful words a pot-bellied policeman said while I dropped my report. The bastard believed I had brought it upon myself somehow. I remembered his straying eyes judge me like I was a whore that deserved what fell upon me. I had cried myself to sleep that night. I made an effort to smooth out my jean which I constantly kept wrinkling before continuing.  "Even in this age and time, people still believe a woman would want to bring this upon herself but I assure you, I want nothing to do with this creep."

I noticed Rhys' bright blue eyes harden steel blue and his mouth pursed like he knew my experience with the police firsthand. Christian on the other hand had a blank look but I could tell he was bothered. Of course, they would be bothered. This was probably something they've has to witness a thousand times. As insensitive as it was it made me happy to know I wasn't the only one facing this nightmare.

"So they have not made any progress concerning your case?" Christian asked.

"I stopped reporting three months ago. Each time I gave the report, he found where I was faster."

I heard Christian growl. Almost like he wanted to hurt someone badly. He looked disgruntled. It was something I said. It must have reminded him of something he wanted to forget. I noticed Rhys fit his hands between Christian and squeeze them. I had no idea they were that close.

"It's negligence on their part. They probably entered your real name into their systems." Christian spat, earning a worried look from Rhys.

"Ignore Christian... He's unhinged, " Rhys implored. "Can we know what happened this time? What brought you to Safe haven?" He asked.

I reached into my hoodie pocket and pulled out the frightening note the bastard had dropped at my doorsteps. I handed it over to Rhys to go over.

"He has found me again. I don't know how but he did and he dropped that along with a vase of roses."

"Where are they?" Rhys questioned, folding the letter in place.

I had almost missed the point of his question when it painfully dawned on me. I frowned. He had to be kidding. It wasn't until I noticed he had a smirk that I realized his intention was to get me mad. My cheeks turned rouge and I mumbled out, "I shattered the whole thing. There was no way I could have brought them here."

Blair and Rhys looked shocked. It seemed they did not expect that kind of outburst from me. Obviously, they haven't been hunted like a deer by a hunter who is merely in it for the sport.

"Well... Ok then, we'll try and see if we can't get fingerprints from the note. It is recent I assume?" At my approving nod, Rhys continued on. "We will also be having a meeting tomorrow to see who will be assigned to your case. There might be a chance we will get the police files of your previous reports too. Can you give us a list of police stations that you reported to?"

I nodded again. Christian whispered something into Rhys' ear just before they got up, flashed me a warm smile, and left the room. Soon after they left, Blair and I began working on the list. As I wrote down the many police stations I could remember, I was shaking. Dropping every police station I reported my dilemma to on a piece of paper made me afraid. The answer wasn't far from home. Every time, I tried to get help, I did not get it. Safe haven was my last resort and I was sincerely worried that they might not be able to help me. If the law couldn't be a safe place, where was? Blair once again put her hands on my shoulder.

"It will be ok. you know, my men are the best at what they do." She told me proudly.

It barely helped but I hoped so. I had a bucket list of things I wanted to do with my life. It was the only good thing that I had come out of my ordeal. I dropped the pen and handed the list to Blair. Her eyes popped wide once she glanced through the list I made up.

"This much?" She muttered.

Not knowing what to say to that, I simply nodded my head and gave her a nervous smile that implied I did not want to talk about it. I was still reeling from that admission. Ten police districts couldn't help me and 'he' knew it. It was why he enjoyed the chase so much. I suspected it was why he had not finished what he started yet. He wanted me to admit there was no saving me. I shuddered at the thought.

Once we were done, I thanked Blair for taking the time to help me out before walking out of the security institute. On my way to the road, I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders like I was finally going to get help and have the fucked up ordeal behind me soon. While I waited for a taxi to pass by, I noticed a black car on the other side of the desolate road. The engine was still running so I figured someone was inside. However, the glass was tinted so I could barely make out who was inside.

The hairs on the back of my neck stood up in end and goose pimples washed over my body. I tried to shrug it off but then my eyes caught something strange. The plate number at the front of the vehicle was paper taped. As if on cue, whoever was within the car slowly wind down the glass. He was wearing a balaclava in his car. Nobody does that.

It was him...
