Chapter 207 - Headmistress, Sword, and Soul

The sudden disappearance of dozens of students put Sanctuary's First in a state of maximum alert.

The students who witnessed the incident panicked, causing chaos and fear as the news spread.

Although the professors tried to calm the students down, it was the little use. The news that an attack had happened in Sanctuary's First was quickly spreading around the World's United Government.

Things only calmed down when the headmistress appeared.

She used a strange technique to forcibly calm down the students in the academy and at the same time went to investigate the situation personally.

When she entered the place of the incident, she squinted her eyes.

Just a glance was enough for her to get the gist of the situation.

"Interesting… Was it the will of the world?" She spoke to herself and closed her eyes, trying to catch a trace of the spatial anomaly that happened just a while ago.

But a few seconds later, she opened her eyes with a sigh.

"The traces are very vague, I'll need a while to decipher them. I guess I have no other choice."

The headmistress took a deep breath and called upon the contract in her soul.

Soon, she found the thread she was searching for.

"Alice, are you busy? I need your help."

A voice replied to her almost immediately.

[Not really. What did you need my help with?]

"Something happened to your sister."

[Huh? Really? Let me see.] The voice put on a surprised expression and fell silent briefly before exclaiming. [She is in another world!?]

"Yes. Can you locate her?"

[Of course, it's not that hard. Done, it looks like she fell into the Ghostland.]

The headmistress frowned. "The ghostland… That is a very dangerous place."

[Yeah, it's quite dangerous. Mother, don't you think we should be more strict about Sylvia's safety? Look at what happened this time.]

"There is no need to go to such lengths. She is not really in danger, or your father would have made a move. Plus, I think this kind of adventure is good for a child like her. She needs to experience this kind of thing."

[There is not convincing you.] Alice sighed. [Okay, I sent you her coordinates.]

"Send me also the coordinates of the other students that fell into that world, please."

[Are you planning to save them too?]

"They are my students after all. Just doing my job."

[Alright. Fortunately, none of them has died yet.]

"Thank you, Alice."

[It's nothing. See you later, mother.]

"Mm."

After cutting the communication with Alice, Evelyn extended her hand forward.

Then, she made a cut in the air with her index finger.

Astonishingly, her gesture caused a tear into space, connecting her location to an entirely different world.

Such a feat was enough to astonish anyone seeing it. It was something beyond the limits of humans.

Even for those beyond human limitations, it was not easy to tear space this way.

That showed how powerful this woman was.

Just at that moment, she felt a gaze.

Evelyn furrowed her brows and looked to her right.

Her gaze broke through the walls, reaching thousands of kilometers away as her eyes glinted with a sharp glint.

At the end of her gaze, a peaceful-looking old man hugging a sword looked back at her.

The moment their gazes crossed, the woman felt a sharp pain in her eyes.

However, her gaze remained steadfast as the mana and soul power in her body stirred in anticipation.

"Immortal-Slaying Sword." She muttered, "Are you planning to make a move?"

The old man sighed and opened his mouth, his voice reaching clearly to Evelyn's ears despite the thousands of kilometers between them.

"I don't want to fight your family in the current circumstances, dependent of the Immortal Soul."

"Really? Judging from your sword intent, it seems like that."

"I'm speaking the truth. I was just curious because I felt someone using exceptional levels of power."

Evelyn sneered.

"Don't worry, I'm just going to check on my daughter."

"Is it so?" The old man thought for a moment, his sword intent locked on Evelyn.

But at that moment, a powerful will descended from the other side of the world.

The old man's body twitched slightly before he let out a sigh.

"Immortal Soul... I understand." He nodded and closed his eyes, retrieving the sword intent locked on Evelyn.

One instant later, he vanished, as though he was never there in the first place.

Evelyn clicked her tongue.

"What a troublesome fellow. Husband, should we make a move?"

[No need.] A gentle voice sounded in her mind. [As long as the Irregulars from the Celer Confederation don't cross the line, we should refrain from launching an attack. We are not afraid of them, but that doesn't mean they are weak. An all-out war would be troublesome.]

"That's true. However, I find it uncomfortable when they behave so rudely."

[If you really wish for it, I don't mind starting a war, you know.]

"Stop it, husband. Just like you said, that would be troublesome." Evelyn sighed. "Plus, Sylvia has made some friends recently, and waging war against them means that she will have to leave her friends."

[... I kinda want to meet her friends, especially that boy.]

"… You don't plan to kill him, right?"

[What do you take me for? Am I than unreasonable?] The voice sounded offended. [At most, I'll teach him a small lesson.]

Evelyn rolled her eyes.

"Childish."

With a smile on her face, she used her hands to widen the crack leading to the ghostland, before stepping into it.

One second later, the crack disappeared, as though it never existed.
