At that moment, a thread with a faint bluish hue slowly and hesitantly advanced toward him. It crept forward at an agonizing pace, pausing every so often as though instinct itself urged it to turn back, until it finally reached his forehead and made contact with it's center.
Yet instead of the thread's light growing brighter for a brief moment before calmly retreating, as one would normally expect—
