Jun Mo Xie jumped in surprise and stopped her as she was trying to run out.
"Who is too despicable? Who dares to provoke you? Tell me, I'll help you vent your anger."
"They are too hateful! I, I, I…" Dugu Xiao Yi's face reddened since she couldn't control her rage anymore, "I had planned to cook something, but they didn't give me the real thing… they're big bullies! They figured that I wouldn't understand this matter. So, they cheated me! Did they genuinely believe that it would be fine to deceive this little girl?!"
The little girl stopped and looked at Jun Mo Xie before asking in surprise. "Huh? Why is your complexion so red, brother Mo Xie?"
Jun Mo Xie had already realized by now what was happening to him.
'This little girl ah... one day she is going to be the death of her future husband.'
"I'm alright. You... you go back first." Jun Mo Xie controlled himself and said through gritted teeth.
Dugu Xiao Yi was already scared after seeing his condition and quickly slipped out of the tent.
Swish!
The tent flapped shut behind the fleeing Dugu Xiao Yi, the sound as light and frantic as her panicked heartbeat.
Jun Mo Xie was left alone, his own breaths filling the space. A wry, self-deprecating smile of amusement touched his lips.
'Truly, women are the most profound and unfathomable mysteries under heaven,' He thought, his internal monologue laced with a bitter tang. 'One moment, she is all courteous smiles as she slips this poison into my cup. The next, she looks upon me as if I am a resurrected corpse, fleeing as if the hounds of hell were at her heels.'
The irony was not lost on him.
The very aphrodisiac she had administered was now coursing through his veins like liquid fire, a paradoxical punishment for them both.
With a deep, shuddering sigh that seemed to carry the weight of his exasperation, he forced his body into a cross-legged position. The simple motion sent a fresh wave of heat pulsing through his core.
Closing his eyes, he delved inward, summoning the vast, ocean-deep reserves of his Godly Origin Qi.
"Out!" He growled through clenched teeth, the word barely a vibration in his throat.
Instantly, a visible force emanated from his pores.
It carried a cloyingly sweet scent like overripe peaches and night-blooming jasmine that immediately began to saturate the air.
The mist coiled and swirled, defying the still air of the tent, filling every corner with its potent, amorous energy.
Pshhhhh…
The soft, continuous sound of its expulsion was the only noise as Jun Mo Xie took deep breaths to focus. He had long since sealed his raging flames, creating an internal cycle to suppress his desires.
His focus was absolute, a diamond-tipped drill of willpower boring through the fog of desire in his mind.
He was so engrossed in this delicate, dangerous purification that he failed to hear the light, purposeful footsteps approaching his tent. He failed to sense the shift in the air as the flap was pulled aside.
Tap... Tap... Tap...
Swish!
"Jun Mo Xie! What in the world did you do to Xiao Yi?"
The voice was sharp, clear, and laced with authoritative disapproval.
It was the voice of Guan Qing Han, he respected and coldly beautiful Sky Xuan Expert.
She was his woman and also his sister-in-law in name now.
She stepped inside, her brow furrowed in annoyance. Her encounter with the hysterical, flushed-faced Dugu Xiao Yi had painted a very specific, and very wrong, picture in her mind.
She had grabbed the girl's arm, feeling the frantic pulse beneath the skin.
"Xiao Yi! What's wrong?"
"N-nothing! Let me go!" The girl had yanked free, her face a spectacular shade of crimson, and bolted into the night.
Guan Qing Han's lips had thinned.
'That little scoundrel,' She had thought, a protective fire kindling in her chest. 'If his urges are so pressing, he should come to me. I will have take care of him. To prey upon a young girl in our camp… unacceptable.'
And so, she had marched to his tent, intent on delivering a stern, elder-sisterly rebuke. But the moment she crossed the threshold, her senses were assaulted.
"Hnngh?"
A small, involuntary sound escaped her as she took a reflexive breath. The air was thick, sweet, and warm. It flowed down her throat, not like air, but like warmed honey and spice.
"What… is that smell?" She muttered, her commanding tone already losing its edge, becoming slightly slurred.
Her keen eyes, accustomed to spotting the smallest detail on a battlefield, scanned the dim tent. They found Jun Mo Xie, sitting rigidly in the center, eyes shut tight, wreathed in a glowing pink aura. But her mind, usually so sharp and analytical, was slowing. A strange, heavy warmth was spreading from her stomach outwards to her limbs, making them feel languid and pliant.
"Mo Xie, I am speaking to you…" She tried again, but the words felt clumsy on her tongue. A flush, unbidden and unfamiliar, began to creep up her neck, staining her porcelain cheeks a delicate rose.
'So hot… Why is it so hot in here?' Her inner thoughts were becoming disjointed.
The raging firs she felt wasn't anger anymore.
It was a deep, primal heat pooling low in her abdomen, a throbbing ache that pulsed in time with her quickening heartbeat.
Her formidable Xuan cultivation or her icy discipline, they were like paper shields against this insidious, Qi-infused mist.
It bypassed her defenses and spoke directly to her blood.
Her gaze, now hazy and unfocused, locked onto Jun Mo Xie.
The stern set of his jaw, the defined muscles of his shoulders straining against his robe, the way his chest rose and fell…
A wave of dizziness crashed over her.
Thump... Thump... THUMP...
Her heart was a war drum in her ears, drowning out all reason.
With a sound that was half-sigh, half-whimper, Guan Qing Han's famed composure shattered. Her legs, which had carried her confidently across countless miles, now felt weak. She rubbed her thighs together unconsciously, seeking friction, seeking relief from the maddening itch that had ignited within her.
Her world narrowed to the man before her. The logic in her mind was a faint, distant echo, smothered under the roaring need.
Her pupils dilated, the dark irises swallowing the lighter brown until only a thin ring remained. And in their depths, for those who could see, a tiny, glowing pink heart-shaped mote swirled.
It was the physical manifestation of the aphrodisiac's power over her soul.
"Mo… Xie…"
His name was a breathy exhale.
With a final snap of her crumbling restraint, Guan Qing Han pounced on him.
It was not a graceful action but a desperate, clumsy leap.
She crashed into him, her momentum knocking them both over onto the thick fur rug.
"Oof!"
The air was driven from Jun Mo Xie's lungs as a warm, soft weight settled squarely on his chest. His eyes flew open, his concentration shattered.
The final dregs of the pink mist exploded from him in a last, violent puff.
And then he saw her.
Guan Qing Han's face, usually a mask of frosty beauty, was now flushed with feverish desire. Her hair was coming undone, framing her face in dark waves. Her lips, slightly parted, were swollen and inviting. And her eyes, those once-clear, intelligent eyes now held only a deep, unfathomable hunger.
Before he could form a single thought, she bent down and planted her lips over her mouth.
Her kiss was not one of love or tenderness but it was fierce, possessive, and desperate kiss.
It was the kiss of a drowning woman finding air.
Her lips crushed against his, her teeth scraping, her tongue invading his mouth with a boldness that left him utterly dumbfounded as the taste of her flooded his senses.
