The room was dimly lit, the soft glow of candles flickering across the ornate wooden walls, casting long shadows. The scent of fine wine lingered in the air, mingling with the faint traces of incense, creating an intoxicating atmosphere.
Jun Mo Xie leaned back lazily on the couch, swirling his wine cup with a smirk playing on his lips.
Across from him, Chu Yue'er sat with her legs crossed, her elegant figure draped in a flowing silk robe that clung to her in all the right places.
A rare sight indeed.
A few moments ago, she would rather have killed him than sit so comfortably in his presence. Now, she was drinking wine with him, laughing softly.
She sighed and placed her cup down, tilting her head toward him with an amused smile.
"I should thank you again, Jun Mo Xie." Her voice was gentle yet laced with something deeper. "For letting me see them one last time. I can finally move on."
Jun Mo Xie quirked an eyebrow, setting his cup aside. "Oh? And how do you plan to 'move on' exactly?"
She chuckled. "I'll leave the Tiangxian Kingdom tomorrow."
He tilted his head, pretending to be surprised. "Just like that?"
She nodded. "Yes. I've already made up my mind. I don't hate you or the Jun family anymore. There's no reason for me to stay."
Jun Mo Xie's smirk widened. "And where exactly will you go?"
Chu Yue'er leaned back, resting her chin on her hand, her eyes gleaming with mischief. "Who knows? I'll go wherever fate takes me. Isn't that exciting?"
Jun Mo Xie let out a soft chuckle, shaking his head. "Fate? I didn't think you were the type to leave things to chance."
"Perhaps I've changed."
"Perhaps," He murmured, taking another sip of wine before lowering his cup. "But before you decide to run off into the unknown, why not stay a little longer?"
She raised an eyebrow. "Why? Are you afraid you'll miss me?"
Jun Mo Xie laughed. "Hardly. I simply have a proposal for you."
Chu Yue'er leaned forward slightly, intrigued. "Oh? And what might that be?"
"Stay here and help me." His voice dropped into a low, enticing whisper. "I have enemies lurking in the shadows, watching, waiting. I could hunt them down myself, but that would be too easy. Where's the fun in that?"
She narrowed her eyes. "You want me to be bait?"
"Smart woman," He praised with a smirk. "Yes, I want them to believe you're still after me, still an enemy of the Jun family. With such a promising ally who had a blood feud with the Jun family, they would definitely reach out to you. That way, they'll reveal themselves, thinking they have an ally."
Chu Yue'er tapped her finger against the rim of her wine cup, amusement flickering in her gaze. "And what if something happens to me?"
Jun Mo Xie scoffed, his voice dripping with confidence. "Then I've clearly overestimated their intelligence. Nothing will happen to you as long as you follow me. Do you really think I'd let mere rats harm you?"
She laughed softly. "You're quite arrogant, aren't you?"
"I prefer 'confident,'" He corrected.
She studied him for a long moment before smiling. "Fine. I'll stay."
"Good."
"But," She added, her voice turning sultry, "since this is a cooperative relationship, I expect something in return."
Jun Mo Xie arched an eyebrow. "Oh? And what would that be?"
Chu Yue'er's lips curled into a teasing smirk. "I want you to train me. My cultivation path still has much room for improvement. With your level, it should be a simple thing for you, right?"
Jun Mo Xie chuckled, swirling his wine once more. "Is that all? I expected something more… extravagant."
Chu Yue'er smiled. "That comes later."
He shook his head but nodded. "Very well. I'll train you."
And just like that, their relationship was sealed—one born from vengeance, but now evolving into something neither of them could fully grasp.
Present Day
The soft rustle of silk filled the air as Chu Yue'er pushed Jun Mo Xie onto the bed, straddling his lap with a devilish glint in her eyes.
Jun Mo Xie sighed, closing his eyes briefly. "Must you always be so dramatic?"
She laughed. "Of course. How else will I keep you entertained?"
Her fingers traced along the collar of his robe, her nails dragging lightly against his skin. "You're always avoiding me, Mo Xie. If I didn't do this, how else would I get your attention?"
Jun Mo Xie opened his eyes, giving her a look of mock helplessness. "You do realize you're playing with fire, don't you?"
She leaned in closer, her warm breath ghosting against his lips. "Mmm… Maybe I like the thrill of it."
Before he could respond, she pulled his head into her chest, letting out a soft, playful moan.
Jun Mo Xie froze for a brief moment before exhaling sharply.
"Really now?"
Chu Yue'er giggled, finally pulling back. "Alright, alright. Let's talk business."
She straightened up, her expression turning slightly more serious. "I found out why the Second Prince has been purchasing so many Xuan Beast tendons."
Jun Mo Xie's gaze sharpened. "Go on."
"He's planning to craft crossbows," She explained, tilting her head slightly. "Most likely to use against the First Prince and Third Prince's factions."
Jun Mo Xie chuckled. "How crude. But effective."
Before he could ask further, Chu Yue'er suddenly leaned down and kissed him—deeply, passionately.
Jun Mo Xie stiffened. His hands instinctively gripped her waist as he processed what had just happened.
When they finally parted, Chu Yue'er giggled, licking her lips. "What's with that dumbfounded look? Everything has a price, Mo Xie. I brought you valuable information, didn't I?"
Jun Mo Xie sighed, rubbing his temples. "And what? You expect compensation in kisses now?"
She smirked. "Among other things."
He narrowed his eyes. "You're relentless."
She leaned down again, pressing herself closer, whispering against his lips. "And yet, you still haven't pushed me away."
Jun Mo Xie's grip on her waist tightened slightly, and his patience was wearing thin.
Chu Yue'er grinned, knowing she had won this round.
Slowly, she rolled her hips against him, relishing the way his breath hitched ever so slightly.
"One day," She murmured, "you'll stop resisting."
Jun Mo Xie exhaled deeply, his voice lower than usual. "One day, you'll push too far."
Chu Yue'er merely smirked. "I look forward to it."
For now, she was content with her small victories.
But she knew—sooner or later—he wouldn't be able to hold back any longer.
And when that day came…
She would finally have him.
Jun Mo Xie sighed since he had been unable to grasp how things progressed to this point in just a few years.
