Chapter 30 - Chapter 30

Gulp! Gulp!

"Besides, I'm sure I'm still better with a sword than you. You could never beat me". Psi chugged his ale down and set the mug down. Lore followed his lead and retorted "Yeah well, I've actually killed a Daemon, and I train daily with Valorum. You're grandfather spoke of the Lightnng Spirit, right? That's his nickname from his mastery over Lightning magic". After finishing another mug of ale, Lore spoke earnestly.

"That may be true, but you were never as good as me. That surely still holds true." Psi's reddened face erupted with a smile while chatting with Lore.

The two friends caught up, and spoke for a while before Psi left and made his way back to his own tent.

A few days passed, tension growing to a point it was practically tangible.

The leaders of the Internian army spent most of this time strategizing and debating the best course of action. On the dawn of the fourth day, yells erupted from the front of the camp. reports flooding in of the Daemin army's approaching, and they were a lot closer then expected.

On a distant hill, riding atop a wyrm, Queen Esper gazed out over the field her and her army would be fighting on.

Esper's forces marched up behind Esper. Once all her forces were ready behind her, Esper then drew her sword, and turned around to face her forces.

"Today, we demonstrate the might of our nation! Fight hard, fight bravely, and show these meager humans what we're made of. Take no prisoners, eviscerate our foes, and show me your loyalty. Go!" Esper roared and turned to face the opposing forces, thrusting her sword into the air.

**

On the Internian side of the battle field the human forces gathered in response to the threatening Daemons. Clattering of armor, and the barking of orders from commanders.

Lore readied himself, and followed behind Valorum. They were to flank the side of the enemy forces.

They began their journey along the side of the battlefield. Through a forest Valorum led his forces, and reminded his men to stay focused, keep their heads on a swivel, and be prepared to draw blood.

*

The main forces of the Internian army rushed into formation. Soldiers as far as the eye could see, Knight Lord's commanding different platoons, the Knight Generals leading large regiments, and the remaining Knight Kings remained as strategists until they were needed. Siege weapons were brought along for crowd control. The Magic Corps was instructed to cast a wide range, large, area of effect spell.

*

As all the soldiers finally fell into place, leading them was Knight King Ah-Kash, sitting atop his own mount. Decked out in armor, stood a very regal, muscular Wyvern. His speech to his men was much short than Esper's. "If we don't stop them here, our families will have no chance. We fight to our last breathe! Attack!"

*

Both armies flooded toward each other, bodies smashed into each other. Arrows, and magic, hailed down upon each side. Screams and metal clashing, bones crunching, explosions; the battlefield became a nightmare instantaneously.

Esper watched from the back as the two forces clashed like ocean waves in a tsunami. She smirked as she estimated for every one death of her soldiers, two or more Internians perished. As she scanned the battlefield she noticed stronger opposing officers, who were taking out whole platoons of soldiers.

Knight Lord's stood at the front line, keeping the enemies at bay.

A few Lord's found themselves against ranked Daemon Lieutenants and Generals.

Lord Shade found herself in hand to hand combat hulking Daemon tattooed all over. They looked primarily like an Orc, with huge tusks jutting out from their lower jaw.

"Hahaha! you think you can kill me puny human woman? I'll show you real strength" As the Orc Daemin spoke, they began lifting Shade into the air. Shade resisted, pulling free, and thrust her fist through the Orcs chest. "Weren't so strong to me, nothing but big talk from the little Orc".

Lord Bal fared less well than Lord Shade. The Daemon Manticore held Lord Bal over its head as it ripped the man in half, splitting his torso from his legs. Tossing the twitching corpse to the floor, the Daemon roared in laughter "This is pathetic, is there not someone worth their salt around here!!"

Knight General Maeve, leapt infront of the monstrous Daemon, she weirded a giant battle axe, which she swung and dismembered the Darmon. The Daemons arm flew away and it roared out, swinging its good arm at Maeve, who blocked the punch with the handle of her axe.
