Di Mingchen, however, held her back, and as she looked back, she saw his deep, dark eyes, tinged with a hint of self-reproach.
"Second Brother didn't mean it that way." Di Mingchen tried to explain but didn't know how, perhaps because he did mean it somewhat, though his words had been too harsh.
"I know." Nangong Ran withdrew her hand and smiled, "I'm not angry, Second Brother. You should rest early. It's late, and I have class tomorrow, so I'll head off first."
After saying that, Nangong Ran turned and left in a hurry, not giving Di Mingchen a chance to speak.
"Nangong Ran... Nangong..."
Nangong Ran's figure quickly disappeared at the door, and after a moment's hesitation, Di Mingchen finally chased after her.
"It's not safe for you to go home like this." He followed beside Nangong Ran, "Let me take you."
"No need." Nangong Ran declined, "I drove here. It's very safe, so you don't have to worry."
"It's very late now."
