"If I come back too late, don't wait for me." Nangong Jin reached out to gently stroke her hair, his expression incredibly tender.
"I'll wait for you," Di Jinxuan looked into his eyes and said firmly.
Nangong Jin's heart ached. He scooped her up in his arms and gently placed her on the bed. "Be good. Sleep well first. Once I've handled everything, I'll come to you. I'll leave through the window, don't worry."
Was he afraid his family would find out he was leaving?
Di Jinxuan furrowed her brows slightly. "Alright, but be careful. I'll wait for you."
"Mm." Nangong Jin nodded and planted a kiss on her brow. "I'm going now. Sleep tight."
"Okay." Di Jinxuan closed her eyes.
When Nangong Jin climbed out the window, he lingered there for a moment, turning back to look at her. There was a hint of reluctance, a tinge of sadness and guilt. He couldn't shake the feeling that leaving on a night like this would make her heart ache.
