Pax saw it and immediately looked delighted in the most unpleasant way. "Ah. A reaction. How unusual."
Fang's attention snapped to Silas. "You know that name."
Silas's voice was low and strained. "I know the family."
Ren's eyes sharpened. "Which family?"
Silas looked at him once, then at the hidden passage, and seemed to make a decision he had been avoiding for a very long time.
"The one that was erased from the public records," he said. "The one that still carries the keeper's line."
The apprentice's breath caught.
Calen closed his eyes briefly, as though tired of the whole exchange already. "You are saying it very dramatically."
Pax gave him a flat stare. "You broke into a hidden archive corridor and are now pretending to be offended by drama."
Calen ignored that. His gaze returned to the apprentice. "The mark on him is harmless, unless you force it to become otherwise."
